"I was fortunate enough to sign my lease with Vista Del Lago Apartments this weekend. I moved in today, February 26th, into a perfectly clean apartment. I’d like to take the time to give a shout out to the leasing professional who shepherded my family through the whole leasing process; her name is Tayler Hernandez. Tayler is diligent, kind, gregarious, and thoughtful. She was very refreshing to work with as she made sure our wants and needs were met. Tayler was clear about the leasing contract and took her time to assist us in setting up our utilities. Five stars to Tayler for amazing customer service!"

"Quality of life has consistently declined since we moved in, but rent has always gone up by the maximum CA law allows. Our lease includes a covered car port, but we haven't had one in over a year. Management keeps saying it is temporary, but the city says Vista del Lago has never bothered to apply for a permit to rebuid them. Seems like if they ever genuinely planned to replace them, they'd have done the paperwork in advance. As far as I can tell, they're just lying and stringing us along to avoid admitting they've failed to provide an amenity listed in the lease agreement."

"This community boasts an over abundance of Rats and Rabbits which brings in the coyotes at night. Everyone who lives here has had or is having or will have payment issues with management. Cars get broken into every almost every night. In response to the break ins, property management had the carports removed and now the city of Mission Viejo will not approve the permits for new carports.Yes!!!!! Vista Del Lago Apartments had the original carports demolished before getting the permits for the new carports. Now, the parking lots are dark and more car are getting broken in too. Over 30 years of paint on the walls, doors and hinges. The cheapest construction grade equipment has been installed in all the units. The buildings themselves are very energy inefficient. Expect to have high electricity bills over $200.00 a month. Sliding glass patio doors and windows are all over 30 years old and energy inefficient. You can feel the summer heat radiate inside the apartments. The front doors all have huge gaps allowing all the bugs, ants and spiders to walk right on in. Maintenance crew are ok. They do the best they can. Property management employees seems to have a high turn over rate. After living here for a few years, I wish I would have kept looking for other apartments. These apartments should realistically only go for $1,500 to $1,800 a month. Until Vista Del Lago Apartments start renovating the old, tired and overpainted interiors of these apartments, don’t pay over $2,000 a month in rent for any of the apartments unless you have no choice. All in all Vista Del Lago Apartments has fallen into ghetto status. All the landscaping and pictures taken of the property can’t change that. This is our last lease with VDL. We are out of here"

"In 2019, I moved in and gave Vista Del Lago a 5 star review. Over the past two years or so, the management of this complex has severely declined and we will not be resigning our lease again. The leasing agents and the maintenance staff are wonderful, which is why we have stayed so long. I am leaving an updated review in hopes that Equity Residential hears the numerous complaints and changes."
