"i love the staff at icon and so far its beeen a great experience im so sad im not going to be staying here next year . This is definitetly one of the best housing options at usc"
"I highly recommend living at Icon Plaza for several reasons: The Staff - They are very nice and help answering questions related to amenities, leases, and the resident portal (the website where you pay rent, submit work orders, etc.). Additionally, work orders are handled in a very timely and efficient manner. Thank you, Icon Staff!! Location - The complex is located centrally in Los Angeles, with quick access to DTLA. If you are using public transportation, you are a block away from the Gold line, which can take you to Santa Monica, DTLA, Little Tokyo, and Pasadena (to name a few places). Soon, there will be connecting lines directly to LAX and Beverly Hills as well. If you prefer the bus, the 81 is right outside the front door of Icon, and takes you to DTLA - the 2 will take you to UCLA - and the 105 will take you to LAX - so, this really is a prime location for transportation. Not to mention, campus is directly across the street. But, most important of all, there’s a Jersey Mike’s on the street level of the building. (And Wingstop + Starbuck’s… Chipotle and Chik-Fil-A are about a block away.) Cleanliness - This is another nod to the staff for keeping the building very, very clean - if you’ve lived in LA you know the worst bug you can see out in the streets or in your home - I won’t mention them by name, but I have never seen one here at this building, and that might be the most important aspect of living in an apartment - no one wants bugs, especially THAT bug. This makes for a more comfortable atmosphere in your living space. Rooms - Very similar set up to Tuscany and Gateway in that there are many rooms where you can rent one bedspace in a room of two beds - however, Icon has the option for private rooms, which is rarely found out this way. In-unit washer and dryer is also a plus (and also rare to find) - no need to drag everything to a laundry room and hope there are machines available. Amenities - There’s a nice pool, with a grill area, and a Mac computer lab with study rooms … very useful to have! Below this is the gym, which has a nice selection of free weights, and a game room, which has air hockey and a pool table. In other words, there’s almost no reason to ever leave the building! All in all, I highly recommend living here, and believe that there is a lot of value to be had in leasing a bedspace/unit here."
"Icon is an amazing place to live with its close proximity to campus, restaurants, and DTLA. As a resident, you feel safe, and the commodities like the pool and study room are major plusses. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Also, shoutout to the leasing manager, Helena, who puts on the best resident events!"
"I've been living here for 4 years now, and Icon Plaza is by far the best option for student housing! The manager Nicole and Helena are always so patient with my needs and concerns. They always go above and beyond to fix any issues and respond to emails so quickly! They are such caring people who always take the time to understand and address your needs. Also, the amenities here are absolutely amazing with free printing (in a 24 hr study room), a pool, a 24 hr gym, and a game room. Of course, due to COVID, these are currently closed, but before COVID I utilized every single one of these and it has made my life so much easier. If it weren't for Icon Plaza, my college housing experience would've been stressful and horrible. The place is so clean and safe as I've never had a package stolen. Even my friends not living in Icon have their packages delivered to me to avoid dealing with package thieves in their living area. The rent can be slightly pricey, but for the cleanliness, attentiveness of the staff, and safe location, it's definitely worth every penny. I have no problem paying rent because I feel like I've saved so much time not having to walk to the gyms and study lounges on campus! I also love how the leases are individual! I am so blessed to have found this place. The people in the office spread so much positivity and happiness, and they really do care so much about each individual resident. Literally, every suite mate I have ever lived with here has loved this place so much and wished they hadn't wasted their time with other housing places around USC."
"I lived in Icon Plaza for two years and loved it my first year and loved it less my second year. I have always appreciated the amenities, the proximity to campus and the student and maintenance staff members who work in Icon. This past May, new management "Greystar" bought the building and laid off many staff members. They charged me an extra $200 dollars a month for "late fees" and threatened to evict me three times for not paying rent. I encourage current and future tenants to keep track of their payments and keep their receipts so they have proof that they paid on time. Additionally, after I moved out, they charged me an extra $273 to repaint and clean the entire apartment and for a broken desk. Having not put anything up on the walls and having not broken my desk, I asked for proof in pictures that I had inflicted any damage on the apartment. They were unable to provide me evidence, but insisted that my roommates and I had cause over $900 of damage to our apartment. In summary, I would caution anyone and everyone when looking into living at Icon. I would never recommend it to anyone, not because of the living conditions or the amenities, but because of the rude management and their tendency to overcharge and create false damage charges. I've already talked with management (so don't bother commenting with your phone number) and their BS is just the same as always. I wish I'd made the leap to move out years ago and I hope others don't fall into the trap. Shout out to Amanda, a student worker, who was the only one in the entire place who was nice and amazingly helpful. The only redeeming quality of Icon. Oh, and FYI, they used to give us $10 gift cards if we posted 5 star reviews."
