"This Housing is Key has been a total nightmare as a landlord I am trying to hold on as long as I can for. unpaid rent because my tenant has children I signed up back in August of 2021 and nothing has happened I call every other week and hear the same thing Wait, just wait I was approved pending payment in 2021 so what the hell is going on very frustrating."
"Last Update; I was recently informed that I have been approved, and after almost a year of denials and no reasonable accommodations. Nevertheless, they did in fact accommodate me by approving me after careful consideration and documentation, Im so thankful to have been able to move forward. There is still hope for others that have experienced the same. Thanks housing is key for helping me and my family. Update: denied my application, and my appeal, still refused to reasonably accommodate me despite me and my family's disabilities, reason for denial makes no sense as they were informed of my situation from the beginning, the agents on the phone stated this particular reason would not affect my eligibility/status, yet, when I request a reasonable accommodation and thorough explanation of things, out of retaliation, I get denied. They make you wait after submitting numerous documents, then they claim you can email for questions only to inform you the email is for technical assistance. They don't reasonably accommodate you and or your disability needs, they ask for landlord information and ask for your rent ledger, but, (knowing these landlords are impatient and irritated for rent owed), after making you submit documents, then tell you your documents are not sufficient (when that's all you have, and you've repeatedly informed them if this, as well as errors on the app itself,), yet, they somehow don't want to contact the landlord, they would just rather make you wait longer, not help you at all, and refuse to approve your application for rental assistance and utilities assistance."
"Don't hold your breath on getting reimbursement as a landlord, or u may pass out! I have been waiting since Oct. 2021 for my tenant's rent relief to come through. It is one of the slowest and most frustrating processes I have ever experienced! I had to borrow $ from my brother to make my house payment! In addition I am trying to get by temporarily on "disability income". My tenants application still says "pending". Ugh!!!! Please help!"
"I applied in November called each week...I was told in March.. No coverage for April would be given. Finally after all this time calling and keeping up. the month I did not call was the time that Updated info was requested and I was late only 7 days was given after call given for over 5 months. I was told my case was denied. That was some Fishy stuff losing my position due to COVID"
"I am a property manager and have been dealing with this rental assistance with my residents. Yes they are hard to get a hold of but do remember that everyone and not just renters got covid and workers are hard to find. this process was made for both landlords and residents! Both have to be vigilant to get the process to go through. I will admit as soon as they stopped taking on new applications, the current process has sped up!! They will pay if you can get all stuff to them. I have 26 residents who needed assistance and have almost gotten all of their monies. I think that a lot of people didn't do enough research to see the the 18mos of payments were from April 2020 through March 31st,2022. All in all I think they have done an outstanding job with all of California!!!"
