"The stay at the navy Gateway was very disappointing. The bathroom had vomit/ or feces on the seat. I walked back to the front desk and they changed my room. I then walk into this room, the toilet seat was also covered in urine, tvs do not work. Very disappointed."
"Reserved a room for nearly 2 months due to an I-stop. The room was nice, but wifi connection is not good at all. But internet was the last of my worries...I started catching glimpses of *something* out of the corner of my eye. I woke up on morning 40 of my stay, and found an uninvited guest in my room (see pics). Yes, thats a rat (or mouse). I will say, the receptionists at the front desk were very helpful, accommodating, and understanding...but this is beyond disgusting. Rated 3 stars based only on the front desk receptionists. The mouse REALLY detracts from the quality of the room. If you have the option of staying here or somewhere out in town, I'd go with the out of town option. ***UPDATE*** So they moved me to another room. After being in the new one for 2 days I find the dish towel on the floor again one morning. So I decide to leave the motion light on and after it turning on several times each night, I wake up on day 5 in the new room, motion light turns on, I shine my flash light towards the kitchenette and another rat/mouse runs across the floor. I'm done. Going out in town to finish this trip. These are unsanitary, inhumane, and absolutely disgusting conditions. Again, stay out in town if you can't get the Navy Lodge."
"My spouse and I had spontaneous idea to drive to San Diego for the weekend. Called the Navy Lodge and got a room. We were super excited to hang out. Got to the room around 900pm and was tired from a perfect day. My husband opens the door to the room and a BIG rat is running across the couch. He abruptly closed the door in horror and said there was a rat in the room. With dinner and overnight bag in hand, we turned around and he looks at me and said we are not staying here tonight! We are driving back to Irvine tonight. Not the best way to end a perfect night…"
"The first time I stayed here with my family, management put us in a room where there was no hot water and made no mention of it while reserving my stay. They moved me to a different room which was still going through renovations, and no I'm not joking. This time, I decided to give them another chance and regretted. I went to the puulot to get it ready for my kid only to find McDonald's wrappers, and chick fil-a sauce and wrappers stuffed in between the cushions of the pull out. There are more details to this story, but in short, just sleep in your car instead and save yourself $140.00"
"This is a great place for a budget vacation with access to a great beach! The building was hard to find and the rooms are a little dated, but good size- pretty standard military accomodations. We accidentally left some clothes in the closet and housekeeping mailed them through FedEx back to us. Close to San Diego Zoo and Legoland without paying San Diego prices. Get some umbrellas from outdoor rec and enjoy the beach!"
