The Mayfair Hotel Los Angeles

"We stayed there without knowing the haunted history of it.. It was early morning about 7AM when “someone” knocked/banged on the door. My husband rushed to open the door thinking it was me, must have taken 3 seconds get up but I was in the restroom. When he opened the door there was no one, no sign of anyone and yelled my name “Ely” thinking I was playing around with him.. but when I answered “Yeah” I was inside the bathroom. We both freaked out, and mention it to relatives later that day what had happened and came to find out that Hotel has some creepy history.. so please avoid to prevent that from happening to you."

"This hotel has its pros and cons. Pros: it’s 20 min walk from Figueroa st and the metro station. The lobby looks beautiful. Cons: The street the hotel is in is pretty sketchy. Rooms are tiny (they have some bigger ones but the one they put me in was really small). The bathrooms are super small. A tall person would have issues fitting in. Housekeeping is not that great. It wasn’t that clean when I arrived and they need to change the carpet (it was full of stains). Also my toilet paper was half used so, at some point, I ran out of it and I didn’t had a replacement... My room didn’t have bottles of water either. When I checked in they tried to sell me to opt out to have my room cleaned everyday of my stay to “save the planet”. What is great but they still give you plastic cups in your room (no glass) what is kind of contradicting... I included photos for reference."

"Location is great (close to things downtown) but that is about it. There is only valet parking which is $36.00 a day. I was charged double. Good news is the staff was able to credit me back a couple weeks after my stay. Inside the hotel might be good for some so this is just my personal opinion. It is very dark themed....as in spiritual darkness. For one, the elevator was pitch black (no lights) and getting on an elevator with two strangers in complete darkness was very interesting. My room had a picture of satanic art (demons). I tried taking it off the wall while I was there but it wouldn't come off. The decor in the room looked like something out of a whips and chains layer. Was glad to leave."

"Rooms are small, also not many plug point to charge, you will have to literally see where the charging points are, the desk has two points either you can watch TV or change the point and put on the table lamp and if you want both these then better remove plug point of coffee maker. Beds are nice and comfortable,, location is not really good, neighborhood is not good. Trust me for same price you can have a better location and a hotel. Rooms are near and clean, well maintained, even the lobby is good and the staff is very courteous and helpful. If they really want good business,.she should do.something about the neighborhood, It is safe they say, but I did not find it comfortable."

"The hotel is quaint, which is great. The renovations have turned the hotel into a pretty cool space. However, there are issues: While the location is great in terms of access to downtown, it's not great in terms of the area being a little spooky at night. At the time of staying, all amenities were under construction and therefore unavailable, which is incredibly infuriating. The rooms were also very small and had no storage. Additionally, the walls were very thin and conversations at a normal speaking level could often be heard. But the decor is fantastic and the people were nice. I want to like this place more!"
