"Where to start so we took a discover dive with another scuba shop and then visited Alpha and spoke with Sean and he had so much knowledge and answered questions with no problem and was amazing. He is the reason we chose to do our open water with Alpha Now the instructor Fred aka Aquaman He was great couldn’t ask for a better instructor to learn from he knew how to explain everything and was very patient with questions no matter how many times we asked and when we got to our open water check out dives he was so good at making any nervous we had go away. We will be continuing our training with Alpha to gain more certifications. So on to the owner Danny great guy made us feel like we have been part of the dive shop family forever. "There is so much to share about our great experience with Fred, our instructor. My husband and I took this together. My husband had gotten certified about 30 years ago, so this class was a refresher for him. I had zero experience. During our open water classes, I had a totally unexpected bout of some serious anxiety to the point where we had to scrub the rest of the weekend. I was very disappointed in myself, but determined to get my certification. Fred is a busy guy, but he still offer to give us a private class to finish our open water dives. This was exactly what we both needed to feel comfortable. Fred is so knowledgeable and experienced. He knew EXACTLY how to coach me through and tailor the skills exercises so I could complete the course. He was encouraging, caring, and believed in me more than I believed in myself at times :-). Huge shout out to Shaun as well. He did a great job making sure we had the rental gear we needed to complete the class and answered all our questions. Fred takes great pride in Alpha Divers. He will ask more of you than most dive shops, but it's all to make you feel safe and know 'there is nothing you cannot do underwater'. "I recently did my open water padi cert with Alpha divers. I made the mistake of doing the class portion in the app and then joining them for the dives. Do the class with them in the store. Anyway, Fred was the instructor. He is quite the character. He has great stories, he is loud and direct, knowledgeable. Most importantly he is absolutely passionate about all things diving. If you want to hire an instructor that will work with you, tell you when you improved but also give you constructive criticism- get certified with Fred! If you want to feel confident and comfortable underwater in any situation- get certified with Fred! 10/10 would and will go back! I just signed up to get certified and I feel like he gave me so much more- tips, knowledge, and he made me even more excited about my future underwater adventures. I had such a great weekend. "They are all really cool, chill dudes. I took a whole semester of SCUBA at UTK and I didn't get certified with UTK because they wanted me to go all the way to Florida for 400$ and that was just for open water certification. This shop is the best way to go and get lessons. I took my open-water dive certification with Fred; he is a real G. They gave me all the gear I needed and checkout for 200$. It was a super good deal compared to UTK. Anyways, because I didn't take lessons with them I had to learn some other stuff that was not taught to me at UTK. He informed me all about it and talked about the importance of safety and CESA and C=Control and STA, stop, think, act. Honestly that all stayed in my head and I only spent a couple of hours with him. I don't remember anything like that from UTK and I took a whole semester. He taught me how to get out of dangerous situations and gave good attention to each student. He's a really cool guy to talk with on the surface but once he is under the water he has a whole different energy. He is with you 100% and I felt completely safe with him, way more than I did with my instructor at UTK. I knew he could handle any emergency and that I would learn from my mistakes and not feel embarrassed. If we needed him to repeat instructions he wasted no time, he was with us 100% and I again I felt super safe with him under the water, he is really good with anxious people. We were doing mask skills and I had to take my mask off completely and ngl I choked a bit on the water but I knew he had me and all I had to do was calm down and keep trying to clear the mask. The quarry we went to was really pretty and freaking cold but so worth it. I will definitely further pursue advancements in scuba with them. So Thank you, especially Fred and Sean"
