Market Square

"Market Square in downtown Knoxville is a venue not to be missed. They hold events and most notably the Farmers Market during the summer on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Perhaps, my favorite event is Chalk Walk in early April. It features chalk artists from the area that design on the pavement in Market Square. Remarkable! The Farmer's Market during the summer on a Saturday is not to be missed. It stretches for blocks and features almost anything you can imagine. Restaurants and taverns abound and are remarkable. If you like the arts, the Big Ears Festival is for you, as well as Rosssini Festival. I have only mentioned a few of the things that go on down there, but Market Square is undoubtedly the jewel of knoxville."

"Normally I wouldn't suggest walking through an alley anywhere, but this is one I recommend. It runs between Market St and Union Ave, halfway between Gay St and Market Square. What makes this a place to visit? Art. There are many examples of art, mainstream-ish and graffiti with a lot of talent on display. Go ahead, step off the comfort of the sidewalks and visit this alley for a real downtown treat."

"8.26.23 There is some street parking or use the parking garage close by. There are many cafes, restaurants, retail shops, all around, nice buildings, Krutch Park, fountain, great for people watching. We were here during the day 2x and at Night and always felt safe. Each time we also saw police patrolling the area. So definitely felt comfortable. There's also a Farmers Market so check online for dates/times."

"Really nice place! Many stores, bars, and restaurant around. The trees are decorated and there are some sculptures from local artists. Everything is well maintained and clean. A must visit during the day and again at night."
