"They watched my dog for a week while we were on vacation. She has a ton of anxiety, but they were so warm and understanding; they accommodated her so well at her trial that she was excited upon being dropped off! We got daily photos of her playing with dogs and having the best time. The workers (particularly Macy) really set my mind at ease and clearly love all of the dogs in their care. Will be coming back :)"
"Our two dogs had their first boarding and daycare experience with Houndstown. We appreciated the free trial day, plus the option to bring their own bedding and comfort items. They arrived home smelling fresh from their exit bath and have had no problems with adjusting back to our routines! I loved checking the private Facebook group to see who they were playing with each day. Great peace of mind for future trips knowing that we will have his place for the dogs."
"My baby had a blast at daycare! Everyone was very nice and helpful. They are separated by size during playtime so the little ones aren’t afraid and the bigger guys get to play with others their own size."
"The absolute best! They know my dogs so well and my dogs love it there. Facebook pictures daily are so fun to see and really put my mind at ease. I would never board them anywhere else!"
"We have been Hounds Town (St. Charles, MO) customers for around 1 year now. We've attended daycare on several occasions as well as a 1 week overnight stay. We have two dogs, a 140 Lb. Akita/German Shepherd and a 20 Lb. Toy/Mini Aussie. We are really big fans of Hounds Town, and here is why: -We come in once every couple of months for daycare (so not super frequent) and yet they always recognize our dogs and greet them by name. The staff clearly LOVES dogs. -When they stay overnight we don't have to pay an added fee to let our days play during the day (the most frustrating rule at most dog care facilities). It's all included in the price and I have the peace of mind that my dogs aren't being left out of playtime or activities simply because I didn't pay an extra fee. -Our two dogs get to stay together at night even though they're vastly different sizes. -One of our dogs takes daily medication and the staff had great attention to detail when we discussed how/when that is administered. Plus, no additional fee for this service. -Play areas are kept very clean. There has only been one occasion (throughout the dozens of times I've been in the lobby) where I saw a mess in the playpen visible from the lobby, and that is because it had just been.. err... deposited. It was cleaned up within just a few minutes by an attendant. I assume the other play areas (those not visible from the lobby) are held to the same standard of cleanliness. -There is a Facebook private group where they post photos of the dogs in attendance that day. I love checking into the group to see photos of my babies enjoying their time (see attached photos from their most recent stay :) ). Concerns I Initially Had & How they were Assuaged *There is no outdoor area* -My concerns were that our dogs (who are very well potty trained and would rather rupture their bladders than go to the bathroom indoors) would not understand they needed to go potty inside, or even come home and believe that it's okay to do so in our home beings it's okay at daycare. *I cannot explain any reasoning behind it necessarily, but our dogs have no problems using the bathroom while at daycare and return to their normal routine once they're home, no misconceptions about where is an appropriate place to potty. -Dog cleanliness in relation to them pottying indoors was also a concern. Even though the attendants clean up messes quickly I worried that my dogs would end up rolling in or running through any messes made. *Does this happen? Possibly. I think it's unavoidable, but my dogs have always been wiped down before being brought out for pick-up and during long stays I recommend the exit bath. I'm also certain, because of the aforementioned fact that the employees LOVE all dogs, that they would never let a dog remain terribly unclean (if they really rolled in a mess) for any period of time. -I was also concerned that my dogs, who love running outdoors, would not have that opportunity. *Although I would love for there to be an outdoor area I have also seen lost dog posts on social media for dogs who have managed to escape the outdoor area at their daycare (other facilities - not Hounds Town). Obviously this is based on a lot of factors, including the upkeep of the fence at the facility and the Houdini-abilities displayed by the dog. I would love for my dogs to run outside BUT I also love knowing that there is basically zero possibility of them some how getting out and becoming lost while visiting Hounds Town. This also means our dogs are in a temperature controlled environment and never end up too cold or overheated. This peace of mind is worth them not having grass for the day in my opinion. In short, this business, and the people who operate it, are really wonderful. I had the joy of meeting Bill, the owner, during our first few visits and his love for dogs was truly evident. Although Bill is no longer with us his love for dogs is still very present within the walls of Houndstown, an amazing gift he left for us, and our dogs, to treasure."
