"I recently was finishing the grouting on the tub surround tile on a new Mirabelle Sitka 60 x 30 in. acrylic alcove bathtub when I heard a cracking sound. It appears that I found a weak spot where a bubble in the tub layers resulted in a brittle and fragile area that easily cracked. I was stunned to get to the finish line of a total bathroom remodel only to crack my new bathtub. I called Ferguson where I purchased the tub and was told that I was outside the warranty period for cosmetic repairs. This was disappointing since obviously the crack was more than a cosmetic repair - now water would be able to leak throught the bathtub. I given the name of two repair companies. I called Aqua Surface and spoke with Cindy. I texted her a photo of the crack and she soon called me back with an estimated cost and was able to schedule the repair for the same afternoon. The repair guy, Bo, arrived punctually. 30 minutes later, at the cost of $150, the crack was repaired so well that it no longer detectable. I was warned to allow the epoxy filled repair to cure for 48 hours before using the bathtub. Only with a flashlight can I now detect where the repair occurred. The epoxy repair was sanded smooth to blend with the smooth tub surface and the color match was perfect. I highly recommend Aqua Surface Inc. for repairing acrylic tubs.
