"We had the best stay at Fox River. The rooms were accommodating and comfortable. Our three kids ages 12, 10 and 6 had a blast. The indoor pool was a great place to play and relax Tuesday-Thur. The water park was a step up in extra fun with cool slides and the lazy river open Friday-Sunday. The area has some very adventurous and active hiking destinations with waterfalls, caves and caverns for the whole family to enjoy. As owners we upgraded our points and the staff there were very informative, helpful and kind. Honorable mention to Drew the manager for going above and beyond and Yvette for being a queen! We enjoyed our preview and visit. We are happy to be owners. The staff at the resort exceeded our expectations with exceptional customer service. Two more honorable mentions to recognize are Sam at the sand bar. That young man handled an angry mob of eager and hungry families both at entry and the whole day we were there. He made pizza and wings and retrieved drinks and more with an infectious smile and wonderful kind demeanor. Impressive young man thank you for all of your hard work. Jose at the front office immediately upon check in brought excitement and enthusiasm that made our stay more enjoyable. He was fun and energetic and provided us with much needed perks. Thank you to everyone!!"
"I should start this by saying that my group came to the Fox River Resort under the wrong circumstances. We came from out of town to visit and sightsee Chicago. We hardly used any amenities offered by the resort, because of the distance and travel time, we were leaving early every morning and getting back late every night. This resort is a much better stay for people looking for a vacation from the big city to slow down and relax. The rooms are well kept and was very nice when we checked in. Lots of things were provided in the rooms too, plenty of bathroom soaps and towels, a full kitchen with coffee and cookware included. No cutting board though, and no scrubber pads for dishwasher either. There were also mirrors in the shower, which was an odd choice because the humidity gets between the glass and the edge frame and erodes the mirror itself. I also noticed a sign that said "please don't put hair down the drains it clogs them" which is strange because if the idea was for people not to shave in the shower, a mirror seems a bad way to deter that. There is a communal Barbeque out back of each building which is awesome, but to get to it you have to exit the front door and walk all the way around the side through the grass; it might be nice for the 1st floor rooms to have a gate off the back porch leading out to that communal area. Some of the furniture was laughably uncomfortable on first impression, but they really grew on me throughout the week, even the barstools. The rustic look and feel of the rooms was great, and further cements the idea that this is a getaway from the big city life in Chicago."
"If is a very quiet and serene place. This is my 2nd year here. We love the free golf course, the staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and specious. There is a pool, miniature golf and a small water park with extra fee. The only lacking is the food is only canteen-like food service of burger, pizza and fries. You have to bring groceries, which I am not keen on, nor having to drive 20 miles to a restaurant for every meal.."
