Fox House Martial Arts

"TL;DR- Train here. Even if you’ve never done a sport, you will be welcomed, challenged, and you will grow. Prior to joining Fox House, I had never tried a martial art. In fact, I had never participated in a sport at all, and never considered myself an athlete. I came at the invite of a friend for a trial class, and was immediately impressed by the fantastic teaching presented by Coach Rob and Coach Tracy. They take the time to make sure you’re understanding and learning new moves and combos correctly without babying you. They observe you well to help you improve your weaknesses, and they care deeply about you making and meeting your own goals. Perhaps more impressive is the community Coach Rob and Coach Tracy have cultivated. Coming into a gym as a woman is always intimidating, especially for a completely new sport. The Fox House members are all inclusive and encouraging. Those who have been doing Muay Thai for years happily and patiently train with complete beginners. This gym celebrates their member’s accomplishments at all levels, and has FUN while working hard. The reality is, I haven’t gone to a single class without laughing, and I haven’t gone to a single class without sweating. Fox House has made Muay Thai one of my favorite things to do, when it wasn’t something I would have ever considered had I never been invited to try."

I think they’re building something unique in Austin and I love the balance of accountability, toughness, and playfulness the program has. "I’ve tried several martial arts throughout the city of Austin, and Foxhouse is by far the best. You won’t want to train if you don’t like the people you’re with, and here, Rob and Tracy create the most fun, encouraging culture - but also not in a way that strokes your ego. You’re working your butt off for sure. And you feel proud of the work you put in no matter what level you’re at. Come train here. It’s like a little family, pushing and developing each other to be as good as they can be. I’ve certainly found a home here."

"I’ve been trying training with Coach Rob for close to a year now; he is an excellent coach, not just in terms of his ability to teach and demonstrate skills (note: he is extremely skilled) but that he truly, legitimately cares for those whom he trains. He does not hesitate to call you out when your technique is improper, or if your hands drop, etc - he is on top of everyone’s progression through each class. In terms of the classes themselves - they’re so much fun and full of practical techniques and exercises, both with and without pressure. The camaraderie here is fantastic. It’s a healthy, non-threatening environment, where everyone trains hard and has a great (though exhausting) time. Highly recommended!"
