"I purchased my first gun at this store and the customer service was not great in the gun dept. I was hoping for some guidance or at the very least some attentiveness but he was too involved on his personal phone to care. He showed me a gun from the safe and i held it trying to judge the weight and fit. Gave it back to him and just assumed i would be getting a new gun from the safe. He bagged it up and took it to the front of the store as he walked me up. I got home and the gun is obviously a display model that was not relayed to me. The inside pamplet was faded like it had been wet. The gun was scratched up. I called the very next morning and the customer serv mgr..gave the same amount of customer service as the previous day. Said sorry theres nothing we can do. What is wrong with people these days. No pride or care for consumers. I hope the gun works at least. Very disappointed in this establishment."

"I’m very glad that there is academy sports here, however the fishing/boating section is a mess. The majority of products have no price labels on them and many of the products are in the wrong location causing confusion when checking out. Many products listed for sale online don’t show the sale price on the shelf making in store shopping difficult. Please fix these issues."

"Twice the Academy website showed an item in stock at 2 different stores and allowed me put it in my cart and pay for it and both times the order was canceled after they checked their stock an hour later. Do not trust the Academy online ordering system to be correct."

"I had a disappointing experience at Academy Sports and Outdoors recently. I visited the store the day before a long-distance fishing trip to purchase a super combo hunting and fishing license, something I've done before without issues. However, upon reaching my fishing destination, I discovered that the license was issued in someone else's name but with my address. I returned to the store the following day, and to their credit, they promptly corrected the mistake. However, my dissatisfaction doesn't end there. While in the store, I found two fish cleaning tables neatly stacked on a bottom shelf with a price tag of $54.99 each, clearly labeled as "fillet tables." When I brought one of these tables to the checkout, it rang up at $89.99. I explained the situation to the manager, who dismissed it by suggesting that someone had moved the tables to try to get a lower price. I pointed out that many state laws require truth in advertising, and the store's pricing should align with what's displayed. Despite this, the manager refused to honor the marked price. While Kevin, the manager, appeared fair in his demeanor, it's evident that the store has a recurring issue with mistakes and lacks consistency in taking responsibility for them. Ultimately, I left the store without the table I wanted, feeling frustrated and let down by the customer service and pricing practices at Academy Sports and Outdoors. This experience has left me questioning the store's commitment to providing accurate information and fair pricing to its customers. About a week ago, I reached out regarding a price discrepancy on a fillet table. The back office contacted me today to address the issue, which was appreciated. However, when I returned to the same store to purchase archery accessories today, I encountered another price discrepancy. The shelf price was $29.99, but it rang up at $31.99. Initially, I thought of just returning the items, but then I asked Sydney, a manager, to accompany me to the item. Sydney was aware of my previous issue and handled it with grace, acknowledging the difference and adjusting the price. While this visit was handled much better, it still made me feel like a problem-maker for encountering incorrect tags twice in such a short time. I want to commend Sydney for her excellent service. However, it's crucial for the store to address its pricing issues to ensure a smoother shopping experience for all customers."

"Loaded up at academy with some new clothes on sale during the holiday season. Got all these clothes at great prices and can’t wait to go back next year. Staff was friendly and I got asked 4x if I needed help while walking around look at stuff to buy."
