His responses was that learning to cope wasn’t the same as healing. And, with a combo of talk therapy and EMDR, I healed. At times it was difficult. At times painful. While a great believer in psychotherapy, I know that its effectiveness requires a level of trust that is not easily given. I never hesitated in giving that trust.
