Our counselor is a Latina woman of color, trained in trauma-informed care and gender-informed practices. We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for all individuals, working to dismantle oppressive systems in mental health through cultural responsiveness and anti-racist frameworks.

"TWICE, I took a day off work and made an appointment for a consultation with Lydia Valdes with Meridian Counseling. I waited two weeks for my first consultation appointment. The day before my appointment Miss Valdes left me a message canceling my appointment. She was apologetic and assured me that she didn’t normally cancel appointment’s, but she had an “unavoidable situation” and “penciled me in for next week”. I was very disappointed but understood that things happen. I called and left a message to confirm that I would take the appointment she offered for the following week. She returned my call leaving a message confirming she had me on her calendar and stated, “if you want to arrive maybe 5 or 10 minutes early, I’ll have some paperwork for you in the waiting area.” I arrived at her office 15 minutes early the day of my appointment to find the door to her office locked. I waited 5 minutes and tried again. Still locked. A few minutes later, I tried again and knocked on the door. Still nothing. By then it was time for my appointment. I waited, got frustrated, and annoyed. I decided to call Ms. Valdes’ office number…it went straight to voice mail. As I listened to the recording waiting to leave a message in walks Ms. Valdes. Five minutes past our scheduled appointment time. She casually apologized for being a little late and opened her office door. By then I was visibly upset that my time was not important to her and not interested at all in a consultation with her. I entered her office and explained that I was frustrated that she was late after suggesting I be there early. She stated that she had already apologized for being late, that she wasn’t late on purpose, and that she is only human. She asked me if I thought we could move forward. I was in tears by this point and told her I was going to pass on her services. If you’re in the profession of counseling people you really should be on time to the appointment’s you make with them. Not very professional for a Licensed Professional Counselor and not very encouraging for a person seeking services!"
