"I am so glad we made the call to book this train ride. Our initial itinerary didn't include Georgetown, but after reading the reviews, we tweaked the plan and booked our tickets. The drive was about 30 minutes from Denver downtown, so it wasn't much hassle to get there. The train ride was available only on the weekends. We visited Colorado during the off-season, so we were able to get tickets two weeks ahead. The booking was done online and was pretty straightforward. We had an error with the booking, so we called the office up and got it corrected right away. Not sure if it was because of Covid, but reserved seating was not available. Once we got there, we waited in a line, and the train staff seated us. There are open top bogies and well as the closed off ones. We were lucky to get seated in the closed cabins since it was way too cold for us. The ride was for at least an hour and a half both ways. It runs between Georgetown and Idaho springs. Beautiful views with mountains and creeks, but it does get very cold as you go up, so be prepared to layer up."
