"I used to be a student back at Anderson (1st-4th), & I loved it there. Food was good. Most of the teachers were respectful, of course, some were mean & sometimes careless, but it was alright with the teachers overall. Mr.M, one of the best teacher for the kids (including me) who had him. Mrs. Parker was my 3rd grade reading teacher, & she was good, teaching us all well. But, up until I was in 4th grade, it got more rough in the school & more disorganized. Students became more disruptive & disrespectful. The teachers were disrespected. Some teachers even quit. Hopefully the school & my old teachers are doing good. Good luck, Anderson. Hopeful ye will have a good future. :D"
"Beginning was rough for my son having 5 teachers in 1st grade! (Schools Fault) My son was getting behind, Then finally after so much time spent & so much effort to put him back on track. 2nd grade was much better. I did try to take him out. But my son was finally happy there, caught up & making friends. The fine arts programs are worth it and now my son has so much fun going to school. We will hope for an awesome 3rd year & the new Anderson Academy."
"My daughter has been at Anderson since 1st grade and I have nothing but good things to say. I mean of course everyone is not perfect but reading through some of these reviews makes me wonder. Anytime I have called or gone to the school, I have never received unprofessional treatment. When my daughter had a situation with a male stupid punched her in the face, I was able to have a meeting with the teach and the principal and the situation was handled quickly and effectively. I'm not sure if some of the complaints are coming from the DI or Montessori side. I love this school. My sister who is now much older went to Anderson and hopefully my son will one day follow his sister, if we can get him into Reese."
"Anderson Academy treated me as if my complaints were unfounded, but reading the other reviews here I see that I'm not the only one. On paper, AA looks like an excellent school. I was really excited when I found out my child was accepted there. Little did I know that our experience would be such a nightmare. Unfortunately the administrators (principal and assistant principal) are looking the other way while teachers are physically hurting children. The person who wrote the earlier review had an experience with a different teacher, so now I know that it isn't just one, which is frightening. In our case, the principal and assistant principal were notified and after being extremely defensive (and taking the teacher's word), they decided that the situation didn't warrant any disciplinary action against the teacher. CPS, TEA, and the superintendent were called and had "investigated" the situation. Luckily we were able to move our child before anything escalated. For this reason, I'm unsure of the outcome but I will say that the offending teacher is still listed as a teacher at this school. A teacher who slapped kids across the face, hit them in the mouth, threatened to harm them, did things to deliberately humiliate them, and turned all of her students against my child after I made the initial complaint... is evidently still employed by this school. The entire situation was inexcusable and appalling. I'm happy to be away from there but sad that other students are probably still being bullied and physically hurt by their own teachers at this school."
