"I just purchased my new cello from this shop, long distance from Texas to me in Virginia, and the experience was impressive! After my initial contact, Mr. Matthews set up a zoom consult with me to address my issues with my current cello so he could access, with his years of expertise, whether the cello I was interested in might be a good fit. He even made recordings for me of pieces I am currently studying so I could hear them played on this cello .He has made calls to case suppliers, given me an excellent price point and discounts for paying up front , an extension of the trial period to allow my teacher to give me her advice on the instrument, and even sent a video of how to take care of it after purchase! I must say this has been the best long distance OR in person transaction when buying an instrument that I have ever experienced, and I have many, with decades of experiences buying musical instruments. "After two visits to Sam's Strings in the past month with my son, we purchased him a new viola, bow and case this past weekend before he starts high school. On our first visit, Sam Matthews was very kind and patient fitting my son for a new viola (he had grown out of a 14in to a 15.5in) and with our many questions, including ones from my sister who used to play viola and came along with us. Instantly, between Sam and my sister playing the options presented, my son and I could tell we both liked his instruments better than what we knew from other area shops. The sound from his intermediate student viola was lovely and no match to the others and his customer service amazing.
