"I recently received several firearms from my family. Having never purchased ammo, I asked friends for recommendations and Academy was by far the most recognized because of their prices and knowledgeable sales staff. I visited my Keller, TX store with my list of needed ammo. Two salespeople in the ammo aisle stopped to help me. I showed them what I needed and made it very clear I did not know anything about ammo and that I had lessons planned for both safety and target practice. When I met with my instructor, he immediately informed me I had the wrong ammo. He also stated firing the weapon with these bullets could jam or worse. I returned to Academy and the folks explained they could not accept returned ammo. I certainly understand but felt like this Keller store had some responsibility as I just took the box of ammo they pulled from the shelf and handed to me. Had I just walked in and picked up the wrong size, I would just accept this was a learning lesson and move on. I have been a long-term customer of Academy and had always felt I had been treated fairly. But that has now come to a close. Customer service offered me 15% off for an online order (capped at $30). I will not use this as I know will no longer make purchases from Academy. Academy could certainly absorb the $32 to keep a long-time customer. Buyer Beware."
