"I will preface this with saying that I will give it another shot some day. My wife and I had a fantastic dinner at Ocho on January 19th '24. We were very pleased with the service and food. We had heard great things about Havana Bar downstairs, so we went down for a drink after dinner. We really enjoyed the atmosphere of the bar. The bartender(bearded) was not very welcoming, however. Reading online, and from friends, we had heard that there would be a great mixologist on deck. I inquired about what types of rum he had available, and what mixed drinks he would recommend. I normally drink tequila, so I usually don't even ask. We were looking for the Havana Bar experience though. The bartender seemed very put out, by me asking about options. I told him that I don't normally drink rum, and had never been there, so I was unsure what to have. He said " why are you having rum then?' I replied "well, here I am in a Cuban themed bar..." He said, "It's not Cuban, it's Pan American." Maybe that's true? I didn't feel like arguing semantics over the "Havana" bar not being a Cuban themed establishment. Everything I had read online noted the Cuban theme. OK I asked if he could maybe just do a decent rum, neat and what else he could do.We ended up with a rum neat and a "daiquiri". Fine. Perhaps he was having an off night. I tipped generously nonetheless. After spending quite a bit of money at Ocho, and paying for pricey drinks, the interaction left me feeling like I was an inconvenience."
"Swanky little speakeasy vibes. 10/10 will visit again. Travis is a master mixologist who takes the bartender’s whimsy to the next level. Tell him what direction you like and leave the rest to him. You’re in good hands."
"Cieara was our bartender, she took great care of us and recommended delicious and authentic spirits. Our favorite part of our visit was definitely the exclusive ambiance of the bar. It's hard to find, candlelight, and so romantic. Would reccomend to a local couple for date night or tourists for a taste of Cuba"
"Hidden. But you should find it. Worth it 100%. Great Bartender Adrian has you covered. This place is destin to be the hot spot in SA. Great for a date if you really want to impress."
"Havana Bar is a lovely quaint place to enjoy a night of conversations with your friends. The hotel has old world charm. I had not been here in about 20yrs, the updates are nice & they still have the old mirrors everywhere, comfortable chairs/sofas, I miss the Godiva martinis but they do have a great mixologist crafting wonderful libations."
