"If you would like a fancy dinner this is your place! The rooftop is very nice but the tables were a little low to be a good view. The service was excellent. It was a little chilly when my boyfriend and I went but they were quick to pull out the standing heaters. The cocktails were delicious! The food was pretty good but not especially remarkable. We went for brunch and it was not super busy. It was easy to make a reservation online. Atmosphere was very chill."
"If you are European or not American, I would not recommend. This place was recommended to me by few acquaintances I had, but I should have taken it with a grain of salt given they are American. I am from Mexico and also vegan, which narrowed it down to only 2 options on the menu as they were the only plant-based options besides salads. The cocktails were exquisite but the bartender did not fully blend the mix well and needed to do a better job at wiping off the excess on the glass. I ordered the pasta, and it was served with a dollop of sour cream— WHAT IN THE AMERICAN. This is not pasta, I decided to overlook given the service was excellent but I would not come here. No spice or actual taste in the food itself. For the prices and high competition The Annie holds in the market, they need to step it up and offer better options for those visiting from out of town. I stopped during Christmas break while I was visiting family since they live in the neighborhood and visit Houston quite often. But, I was so appalled by the lack of taste in the food, this is not a restaurant I would return to nor recommend for dining in. Great cocktails for girls’ night out… but, that is it. As a restauranteur and VIP access to local cuisines in Houston, Austin, and Boulder— this is not a top recommendation of mine. I ordered “Almost Famous” was tingly on my tip, it was perfect blend of mezcal, chartreuse and aperol which is hard to find. The white wine pairing (while it would not typically be my choice) I accompanied with the Mushroom Rigatoni was the Chardonnay. It tasted very dry and as if it had been sitting out. I’m glad I did not order dessert nor an appetizer, I just don’t think anything is fresh and for these prices— let me just go to Tiny’s instead."
"My family and I went here for the first time and we were really happy with the overall experience. As far as the atmosphere/ambiance, you’re not going to find a nicer place. This is definitely an upscale dining experience and they do what they do very well. This a good place to take someone to treat them to something nice. Depending on how nice the places are that you frequent there is a very good possibility this could be nicest restaurant you’ve been to. It’s that swanky. The service was really good. No shortage of staff as you see with some places. Only reason I didn’t give a 5 star is because there were several times our cocktails sat empty for a longer than necessary time. The cocktails are really good by the way. The food was really good. We ordered the Salmon (amazing) a chicken dish (amazing) some bacon wrapped quail (amazing) some ceviche (amazing), pecan pie (amazing), apple rum cake, (amazing) biscuit and jam (amazing) and a variation of a chicken fried steak, this dish was the only reason I didn’t give a 5 star on the food, the beef on this dish was cooked a bit to much. It was good, but not to the same standards of everything else. All in all…. 4.9999 Stars. We will definitely be coming back. And it’s absolutely a place you should try if you haven’t been here. Glad we came! The McCarthy’s"
