"cute place, secure building and garage. the walls are paper thin and the high ceilings mean you hear every step your neighbor makes. looks clean and luxurious except for the vinyl flooring. plumbing in the building can be a mess and you will be charged for every maintenance request. they will keep your deposit and charge you extra for normal wear and tear. take photos and learn your rights before signing a lease with them."
"Luxury building NOT luxury living My fiance and I have lived at Nine + Eighteen for the last two years. We were not able to tour the apartment complex before moving in as we were coming from out of state with short moving notice. Nine + Eighteen offers a mediocre gym and no additional amenities (which we were aware of before signing our lease). If you are looking for an apartment complex with some sort of atmosphere this is not the place for you. Below are some of the concerning issues we have encountered since living at Nine + Eighteen: 1. Within the first few months of moving in maintenance had to spend 2 days drilling on our balcony as they had added no drainage. Due to no drainage puddles of water were entering into our unit. This has since then been resolved but is an example of poor design. 2. We have had many issues with major leaks in our apartment when there is medium to heavy rain outside (pictures provided). Maintenance has come to repair our leaks but it is a hassle we should not be dealing with for a “luxury apartment”. 3. It is January and the furnace is unable to keep the apartment at a comfortable temperature. It will not keep the apartment above 60 degrees. 4. We are experiencing ice and snow inside our unit due to the poor insulation and cold outdoor temperatures (pictures below). Having ice and snow in our unit is absolutely ridiculous and far from “luxury living”. 5. We are still waiting on replacement blinds that we were told would be installed a few weeks after we originally moved in (2 years ago). 6. A recent issue which has been very concerning is receiving an email requiring us to give 4 months notice if we wanted to move out."
"These people will steal your money, do not live here. I thought it was beautiful and a great location to live, but I soon regretted living there. We had to foot the bill for plumbing because of the faulty way they have set up their connections, and the problem was never solved. There is a strong sulfuric smell that comes through every other season, and all they do is spray febreeze and ignore the problem. There is a huge problem with noise between floors, and my downstairs neighbors told us they could hear us use the restroom. It was disturbing and it shows the poor craftsmanship that was used to hastily construct the building. There are little to no amenities if you're looking for any sense of community or anything outside of a small gym, and there is no one in the office regularly, so problems will go unanswered. The managers are from Bloomington, IN, which now makes sense to me. Bloomington is a college town, so they are used to preying on young college kids and taking their money with little to no repercussion. Moving out was a tremendous hassle, because you are on their clock, not on yours, and the inspection was hastily thrown at us. I took two days off of work to help clean after we moved out all of our stuff, and went the extra mile to clean the walls and rent a carpet cleaner. I've never left a place so clean. This was all for naught. A few weeks later, the crooks sent us a bill for over $2000 dollars. More than our rent, and having used the deposit already. It was disgusting and a slap in the face. You will be charged for EVERYTHING. Having good friends in the industry, I asked about what kind of policies are normal, and the entire management group of the broader indianapolis apartment company was incredulous at the aggregious tactics 918 is using to treat their tenants so poorly. They charged insane amounts for repainting, which they have to do anyways for sanitary reasons before new residents move in, and the lease says that normal wear and tear is to be expected. They are crooked, will lie to your face, and overall made my experience downtown a disaster. Do not believe anything you hear, because they are just lying, and then laughing about harassing you behind closed doors. They don't care."
"I regret to say that my experience at Nine-Eighteen has been less than satisfactory, prompting me to provide a 1-star review. While I was initially hopeful, several issues have compounded over my tenancy, leading me to feel compelled to share my concerns. One of the most glaring problems with Nine-Eighteen is the alarming lack of sound insulation. The walls are remarkably thin, to the extent that I could hear even the most intimate of sounds from my neighbors, including their use of the bathroom. This not only compromised my privacy but also made it challenging to enjoy a peaceful and quiet living environment. For individuals seeking tranquility and a conducive atmosphere for work or relaxation, Nine-Eighteen is far from an ideal choice. Another concerning aspect of Nine-Eighteen is its popularity among students. While I appreciate the diversity and vibrancy they bring to the community, it can become quite noisy and disruptive, especially during peak academic seasons. If you value a calm and serene living space, this may not be the best fit for you. Additionally, I was disappointed to find that the responsibility for plumbing services rested squarely on the shoulders of the residents. In my experience, a well-maintained and functional plumbing system is a basic necessity in any residential space. The fact that I had to personally bear the cost of plumbing services left me feeling unsupported and disheartened. Moreover, the security concerns at Nine-Eighteen cannot be ignored. The bike storage room has been broken into during my tenancy, resulting in the theft of many bikes. This has created a palpable sense of insecurity and raises questions about the complex's commitment to resident safety. To further exacerbate matters, upon moving out, the apartment management has presented me with an exorbitant bill for "cleaning and repair" that amounts to an entire month's rent. The justification for these charges appears questionable at best, and I believe it represents an unjust attempt to extract additional funds from departing residents. In conclusion, my time at Nine-Eighteen has been marked by thin walls, a noisy student population, out-of-pocket plumbing expenses, security concerns, and excessive move-out fees. I cannot in good conscience recommend this complex to anyone seeking a peaceful, secure, cost-effective, and fair rental experience."
"This is one of the best apartments I have ever lived in. I spent two of my first years in Indianapolis at these apartments. And in my two years living there I only had one really issue (heater did not work during the first winter). The managing team of Stephanie and Brandy are the best and truly are above the rest. They made sure to always be available and accommodate all my needs and problems. The apartment itself had new and modern appliances. The area was spacious and had a great aesthetic. The complex is also in a pristine location and just a walk away from everything in the Mass Ave and Downtown area! My only true complaint is the recent increase in price (makes sense though), the gym set up being a little underwhelming, and the lack of socializing amongst people in the complex (maybe install a pool). I would highly recommend this place to anyone in search of a new apartment/living situation. However, I will preface that if you do live here, the contract will state that if you do anything to the wall (hang a painting, place art, etc.), you will have to repaint every single wall or they will take your deposit and then charge you some more on top. So again, overall good place for many reasons, but the hassle of being charged for every little thing even after moving out is something I would be cautious of."
