Endoscopy Center

"Beware of exorbitant costs of colonoscopy/endoscopy. They are (at least) 3-4x the national average. I was left with bills in the thousands of dollars after insurance. Would have never done it here and would never do it again here. This is not a reflection on the actual facility, but rather the outrageous costs of procedures. So extremely disappointing and upsetting. Not once was any cost ever estimated or given ahead of time. There is no reason a colonoscopy should cost > $17k! I am a believer in the free market but only with transparency so that people can make informed decisions. Do your research! Since they don’t give you the cost breakdown here was mine: Pharmacy $397.28 Supplies $507.00 Surgery Service $9,935.00 Recovery Room Service $1,936.00 Misc $1,782.00 Misc $1,392.00 Misc $1,398.00 *have not received pathology/lab bill nor anesthesia bill yet. The doctor wanted to separate upper and lower to different days which seemed odd. Now I understand. THIS WAS FOR A STANDARD COLONOSCOPY WITH NO COMPLICATIONS. In and out in under two hours. I do not believe in negative reviews, generally. Hopefully this can save someone else from financial distress."

"Had an upper endoscopy done here. procedure itself was very smooth, great staff. As far as cost goes, national average is $900-$3,200. When I spoke with the scheduler they gave me the option of here, or Community North. I asked which would be more cost effective and was told the Endoscopy center would be. That turned out to not be true. I am fully insured and my bill was over $3,000 out of pocket. The gastroenterologist here has an ownership stake in the facility so he directly profits from the excess $. Be careful and shop around for the best price and hopefully we can start to get affordable healthcare in this country."
