"From the moment I walked in the door I was displeased. The front desk clerk was extremely rude and kept trying to speak to the man who was with me instead of me (a woman) when I was the one who booked the room. The door to the room had to be shoved open. The room itself REEKED of cigarette smoke. All of my clothes smelled horrendous when I left. There were disgusting stains on the desk chair and burn holes in the comforter. There was no hot water in the shower. And I don't mean that it was tepid; the water was straight up cold. The fan in the bathroom also did not work. The stairs leading to the second floor were held together with rotting wood. The mini fridge barely chilled things. Only upside was the internet worked fairly well. Otherwise, I truly hated my stay here."
"It's the worst experience I've ever had, the staff was so damn rude. The room smelt like someone just had smoked 2 packs in there. I had to take a shower and wash all my clothes when I got home, cause it smelt like I spent the day smoking. They yelled at my wife because we had two dogs, the dogs were sleeping the whole time, and they kicked us out. Ok, we can be wrong, but ask gently to check out cause we didn't "follow" the rules should be more appropriate. I wish I could pay the staff a trip to my country( I'm not American) so they could learn how to treat and respect people properly. One star is too much for the experience I had."
"2 out of 5 stars. Haven't been here since it was called the Dollar Inn, which was YEARS ago (when Castleton was a whole different area/vibe). It was getting pretty run down then. It used to be like 25/night or something. I gave it 2 stars bc at least it was a place to sleep. This isn't the worst motel but it's far from nice. It's safer than other motels in this price range. Not walkable, but plenty of places within a couple mile driving distance."
"Worst experience ever. I'm very tolerant of subpar hotel rooms, since I understand business owners have to put up with a lot of bad or malicious guests. But this experience was unacceptable. 1) requested an upper room but was told there were none (in an Indy suburb Tuesday night?), so I accepted the room given (see near empty parking lot pic). 2) room given was in poor shape and smelled of urine and chemicals (see pic - someone else posted similar, others complained about smells). 3) room given was next to the laundry room which became active and noisy (used by the clerk Raj) after midnight (see pic). 4) When I requested a different room because I could not sleep, I was denied several times even though there were plenty of empty rooms. Will complain to Red Roof corporate -- this example really hurts their brand. I would AVOID this place based on room quality and inexplicably adversarial service. It also seems unsafe (there was some yelling in the lot and strange characters milling around after midnight). Seemed odd when I checked in that the clerk had lobby doors locked before 9 PM in Castleton, Indiana, but it started to make sense later in the night. Update: Thanks to corporate for their responses (I called in a complaint as well). I hope the point that my stay seemed intentionally sabotaged by the hotel itself was not lost (placement in a bad room, denial of room exchange when there were plenty, the employee making the noise after midnight)."
"They put a $100.00 security deposit on my card when I booked the room which they have not removed from my card yet, and included it in the charge still with it having been posted to my credit card statement, even though I did no damage to the room. I already checked out as well. I will update my review if they fix this. Update: They removed the $100.00 Security Deposit Charge on my card. It's a good price to stay near Indianapolis if you'd rather save your money for experiences/dining out/other things in the city."
