"I was looking for something comfortable for myself, my 19yo niece and 12yo nephew for a 500 mile weekend trip to visit our 88 yo Grandma/Great Gma and other extended family members around the portage area. The hotel caught my eye because it was right off the highway and perfect for our needs. We each get a bed and with a small kitchenette we could make our own meals and not have to spend a ton eating at restaurants. I read the reviews and the price was right, so I booked a 2 night stay a month in advance. Check-in was a breeze and the live-in manager was kind and made us feel welcomed. She was available every time we needed her. Apparently they saw a hotel with "affordable" in their name, and upon opening the door were shocked at how nice it was, they thought it would be a dump. Tbh, if I were looking for a studio apartment I'd live there. It was beyond our expectations! Looked to be new hardwood floor type laminate throughout, kitchen had granite countertops including an eating bar, glass top stove. The bathroom is located between the bed and living area making them seem like 2 rooms. The bathroom was all white showing it was clean top to bottom. The sitting area has a TV, a chair and foldout loveseat with a brand-new looking mattress and bedding is in the closet. The 2 beds in the back area were comfortable, I have an arthritic back and didn't wake up in any additional pain. I loved the layout of the building. It's perfect for families, you won't need to chase escaping children down a long dark hallway telling them to be quiet because each room faces an open air courtyard. The courtyard isn't much more than a concrete ground and some tables and chairs, but it's a decent size and for families, the kids can go down for the night and you can still go outside to enjoy the night air and feel safe knowing you're just outside the door. All in all, it was an enjoyable stay and the next time I'm in that area, I will definitely choose this hotel again and will recommend it family and friends."
