"Rude black women in front office. Which is typical, so that wasn’t my main concern. What I Can’t understand is how they will call your phone every week, for average child behavior. sometimes twice a day, but when you drive up to the school they tell you that “they don’t know why you’re here.” and that “the kids do whatever they want.” huh?? they basically run the school, by choice. i guess. IDK, but don’t blow my phone up if you don’t need anything from me. Please & thank you. Come up with a better solution, Create a school App or something for us to communicate with you all. Especially since all you want to do is inform/record & not actually do anything. Zero tolerance doesn’t mean ignore. Consistency is key. Thoroughness is key as well. Can’t pick & choose who & when to help."
"This school is OK...at first we was failing we off the failing list now...we use to have bad teachers now we have better ones and smarter kids...I love my people I have been at SHK8 school for 7 years two more years and I will be out of there!"
"2016 Update: They have a new principal and staff. The very first day I wrecked my car due to them not having any police escorts or means of directing traffic. The second week we as parents are told the school doesn't open till 730 but they have 2 be to class by 745... When do they eat breakfast? Oh the many things I could write about WHY I DETEST this school so grandly. I guess I will settle on this. For 8 hours a day I have to leave the blood of MY loins to this supposed institution of learning. In those 8 hours EYE expect there to be 8 hours of CONSTRUCTIVE use of time. Not necessarily 8 hours of continuous learning, that's torture for kids, but at least a good strong 5.5 - 6 hours of good learning a day... Else y are they there? Y do you force me to lock my baby in this building day in day out like she's a prisoner for no gain? She's not learning much, she's not safe (once she was lost by her sub teacher, once she was told she could walk home at the age of 6 with no parental advisement of such), she's not eating right (they eat lunch at 10a.m. and don't see food again till they get home), and she doesn't get enough individual focus. Y is she there? Then to top it off, they're a failing school to boot. The principal is a CLOWN. His assistant is the real brains of the operation, and she half the time walks around like a black Trunchbull. Lady have several and do something with yourself. Half the teachers are old as dust and bout to retire, so all they thinking is just a few more days. While the other half are fresh out of school, trying to get a check to pay off that student debt, walking in a children's school like they just left an old school Outkast video shoot, trying to impress elementary, middle, and high school CHILDREN... *sigh* Yall I could go on all day, but just suffice it to say, if u don't have to send your precious offspring to this instituted children's hell, DON'T!"
"I love South Hampton School and it's Teachers my son is in the 4th Grade. For the complaints I read earlier I wonder how many of those parents spent a day in their child's classroom to see the disrespect and challenges these teachers have to put up with all along with ensuring they educate the class. I make it a point to spend at least one day being a teacher's assistant and I know why I am not a teacher. Now Birmingham needs to provide better technology to support teachers and my child and there should be computers in the class."
"My children has attended this school for the last couple of years and i will say this year has been the worst year yet this school has some teachers that care nothing about the students they care more about complaining than anything now its not all the teachers my oldest son teachers was wonderful but my youngest teacher was the worst i can see why most parents that i have ran across have complained about this school and the teachers teaching the younger students the middle school teachers are fine but below that is bad they have attitudes that are the worst and then they look at you as though you are the problem my youngest son has never hated school a day in his life but having the teacher that he did this year made him hate school so if you can find a better school in our area please send your child there...."
