"I have been cruising with Carnival since 1992. I recently went on Mardi Gras, and the changes that Carnival has made since the pandemic are very obvious; the food choices at the buffet have greatly decreased. On elegant night, they don't even put white tablecloths on the tables in the dining room anymore; the dining rooms are everything except elegant. There are more specialty restaurants with good tasting food which forces you to spend more money if you want good tasting food. The DIGITAL photos are $18.99. I feel like it is all about money now. And it is no longer a good deal for the money. You are being nickel and dimed during the entire cruise!!!!"
"We've been on 3 cruises this year and have 3 scheduled for 2024, and 3 booked for 2025. We've had excellent service for the most part on all of them. They have good food, there's always something new to try on the menu. Almost 24hr pizza, burgers, late night buffet, steak house, theres always more than enough. Tip your bartenders and your glass is never empty"
"Carnival has The Spirit ship cruising out of Mobile for 6 months out of the year. I’ve been on at least 5-6 different ships, including the new Celebration and Mardi Gras. I liked Spirit a lot. It obviously wasn’t as big and new as Celebration, but it is better than Elation out of Jacksonville. Ship by ship the same plate is a bit different on each one. The chef on Spirit is doing an excellent job. I had really good food on Magic out of Cape Canaveral as well. Oh and Spirit goes to more destinations than Elation, which only goes to the Bahamas. Jacksonville has better parking though. The parking needs much improvement in Mobile. Overall, I’d definitely recommend cruising on Spirit and they also had an excellent gym and a painting studio that I have not seen on other ships. Fabulous kids clubs as well.. for each age group."
"Embarkation was slow, ship a bit dated. Entertainment was a little week, with no real quality shows in the main theater. Some of the comedy was good. I am never impressed with Nassau, but we went snorkeling; that was good. There were no chairs to be had at half moon cay. The food in the main dining was not impressive in selection nor taste. Carnival probably can't have great food in main dining and sell premium restaurants on ship for more cash. Debarkation was fairly quick, but they don't give you tags in the room for luggage. By the time we realized we needed to get luggage tags at service desk, it was to late. We ended up dragging our luggage from our room to the car, probably over mile or so. Special shout out to James the cruise director. Guys burgers was always quick and tasty."
"The Mobile Alabama cruise terminal was a bit of a challenge to get into. The Google maps vs. the entrance signage didn't align but with the help of security we made it to where we needed to be. The employees were super helpful and assisted us with our issue regarding travel documents. The Carnival Spirit was absolutely wonderful. The ship layout was easy to navigate. Our suite was perfect! Room #6189 has everything you need for a 5+ day cruise including closets, robes, mini fridge, balcony and it's positioned in the middle of everything. Aero, our steward was amazing! I requested ice for our wine since it wouldn't fit in the mini fridge and he kept ice all 6 days. The dive in movie screen was a big hit for us. I enjoyed watching the movies while lounging in the pool."
