La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Birmingham - Inverness

"Booked 2 rooms over the phone and stated that one would would have just one adult and two service dogs. When we arrived to check in no one said anything to me about a dog policy. We checked in and then went to a restaurant. When we came back, we unloaded all of our luggage into our 2 rooms. One was on second floor and other was on first floor. Gentleman at desk waited until we got all the way up to the room on second and then come back down to let the dogs out before telling me they don’t allow dogs on second floor. The entire second floor stinks horribly so we were fine with moving down to first floor. Both rooms were dirty. “ Fresh” sheets were dirty, floors and walls had dirt and stains and weird stuff all over them, Main room door annd bathroom door both had a very hard time getting them to shut and lock. The free wifi did not work which was not an terrrible thing for us personally but may have been for someone who absolutely needed it. overall terrible experience and the worst La Quinta I’ve ever stayed in."

"Awful place! Terrible experience! Stay away! The noise level is the worst I have ever experienced in all of my guest experiences. This hotel caters to construction working men, possible those that travel to complete contracts. There was loud arguing right outside my window. The people on the top floor were stomping on the floor up to around midnight and then bright an early from 5:00am on. There is additional $35.00 per pet. Most La Quinta Inns have pets stay for free. The hotel is old and carpet as well. The heater was loud and made noises like a chainsaw being started. There was loud banging outside the room from 7:00 until we left at around 11:00am. It was as if someone was banging a stick against the side of the building. It was an awful experience. Stay at any other hotel if possible."

"The only positive I have to say about this hotel is that it is very quiet. Now let's get into the negative parts. First there is an over powering smell of some type of air spray/odor masking substance. Having a sensitive nose which leads to debilitating headaches because of smells made it very hard to be in the lobby or eating area. When I spoke with the front desk person he didn't understand what I was saying. Second was the served breakfast. The biscuits were hard, muffins unwrapped, and overall offering could be better. It was in the area by the front desk which means it smelled horrible too. Next, the wash clothes were dirty and not replaced from previous guests. There were obvious makeup stains and what looked like chocolate on them. I asked at the front desk for wash clothes and he didn't understand what I asked for. He didn't have any but said he would contact housekeeping. After going up to my room and waiting 30 minutes, I had to call down to ask where they were. It took another 5 minutes for them to arrive at my room. Finally was the heating/ cooling unit in my room. It was very hot when I walked in and still had not cooled off overnight. After coming back in the evening it was freezing. There doesn't seem to be a happy median when it comes to temperature. Would I recommend a stay here? No not really."

"We decided on Laquinta because we have an animal. The website says no pet fee. Please note there is a pet fee of $25 per pet. The room is quite cozy and there is a refrigerator and microwave in the room. You open the room to the bathroom, so that’s a little weird but it’s all good. They serve a breakfast in the morning. AVOID it, the food is cold and gummy. Then they have this weird sign that says you can’t take food to your room. Kind of odd if you ask me. Anyway it wasn’t a bad price taxes and fees and one night stay came in under $90 so I am pretty pleased for the value."
