"This was our first time dining at Rodney Scott's and we were both pleased with our food selections. I chose the whole hog plate with fries and slaw. We shared a 1/2 basket of onion rings. My wife ordered Mac & cheese and collards. The onion rings were very good. The BBQ was great, especially when loaded up with the Rodney Scott vinegar based sauce (vinegar based is my all time favorite). I did not care for the Bama 16 or Karen's sauce. The fries were hot and fresh and the slaw was good too. My wife enjoyed the Mac & cheese but the collards were not her favorite (she prefers turnip greens over collards). I definitely recommend RS and will return on a future date."
"The physical location is modern and spacious . Plenty of room for every occasion. The food was well prepared and very tasty. My only critiques would be a kiss more smoke for all proteins and perhaps a little more bark on the brisket. In this case those are my preferences and shall not affect my ability to review fairly. The bar seemed under utilized which felt odd. In summary, delicious food served in a delightful establishment with warm and welcoming service. Oh and the sides and saucesare great too!"
"Maybe I am wrong for making my 1st review of rodney scott a bad one. Let me explain. My usual experiences here are so good, once I get my food, its gone before I get any photos and I don't like doing reviews without photos. Each time we have eaten here(2-3x a week),except the last 2 were extraordinary. Maybe have hushpuppies that are not warm, but they have no problem replacing them. But the last 2 times, and especially today has been the worst. We returned the ribs twice because they were dried out, small, over cooked and ugly, the hushpuppies were dried out, and that potato was not warm and had hardly any toppings on it. I was sitting at the counter watching them today fix orders and it was as if the dine-in customers got better food than the to-go customers, not just my order either. I was waiting on my rib plates to be remade and asked the manager(Mike) do I need to pay extra to get center cut meat that looked better, he said no but didn't change the meat. Then I saw this loaded potato in the window piled so high with toppings I asked him for one just like that. I got home, potatoe looked half naked(definitely not worth $7), and not fully cooked. Then I get my usual sauce with the seasonings and it looked like a cup of mud water. We just threw the food away because I was so mad and I called and told him bout it especiallythat ugly potato. There use to be a manager there that cared, my son called him the happy man. All I remember is he was fixing on his house. He always walked around talking to the customers and making sure everyone and everything was as it should be with a smile on his face. Our food hasn't been right the last couple of times he hasn't been there. I wish Mr. Rodney Scott would do a pop up or send in a secret shopper. My family or I will not return."
"Outstanding outpost of the regional barbecue chain from award-winning pitmaster Rodney Scott. Staff was friendly and helpful, and both the airy indoor tables and covered patio tables are great. Ordered the signature whole hog barbecue plate with baked beans and macaroni and cheese and a pork shoulder barbecue plate with potato salad and macaroni and cheese (all plates also come with cornbread). Three sauces to choose from: a traditional pepper vinegar, a sweeter tomato-based sauce, and a hotter tomato-based sauce. Everything was fantastic!"
"This location is a larger and a spacious version of the Birmingham location. The whole pig was juicy and smoked. In my opinion it needs just a bit more smoke flavor. The sauces are still tangy, sweet, spicy, and the mayo version. The mac and cheese was baked and moist. The greens were okay. Potato Salad was good and needed just a hint of mustard. Overall, the food is consistent and you won't be disappointed."
