"Rude, unintelligent staff.. leasing office didn’t even know anything about the apartments or rent. Answered the phone with “autumn court” in a very rude tone, then proceeded to answer every question with a rude yes or no."
"I moved to Elkhart, IN on a work related basis and rented an apartment with the Autumn Court Apartment complex in late September/early October of 2017. I remained a tenant in good standing throughout my entire rental experience with them which I officially ended in December of 2019. I did give termination notice to the apartment management orally and later in writing of my intent to end my rental privileges as of December 2019. In December of 2019 I cleaned the entire apartment per the required cleaning list which the apartment management supplied. I took photos as proof and returned the keys to the office manager, Ms. Paulette Hillard, on Tuesday, December 31, 2019. While in the rental office, I requested a walk through to complete the process. Ms. Hillard stated that her maintenance man would be the one to handle that and would do so in a few days. The maintenance man walked into the rental office while I was still there and I again requested a walk through as I would be leaving for Georgia the next day and wanted closure. I was told, again, it would have to wait. I verbally asked Ms. Hillard, more than once, if there might be anything else necessary to complete the process and she assured me each time that there was not. I said my farewells and ensured that she had my contact information to send me my deposit refund since it was based on a thorough cleaning and Ihad accomplished that and then some. Around mid-January the apartment complex sent me an approval and clearance letter in reference to the cleaning requirement. I did not break my lease as my original lease had ended in October of 2018 and I decided not to renew my yearly contract due to my work in Elkhart winding down, opting instead, to rent on a month to month basis. I did, however, abide by the provision in the lease and followed their termination policy by giving notice and ensuring the apartment was move-in ready. Not only did this apartment complex management keep my full deposit but they also have attempted to charge me an extra month’s rent, and a $50.00 late fee for January 2020, and keep a $90.00 credit which they owe me (page 2 of the tenant ledger, date 12-4-19), and to go as far as wrongfully turning me over to a credit bureau for collection. In a form they sent to me in January they stated that I did not move out until January 6th 2020. I was already in Georgia on the 6th of January. I have dated photographs to prove it was December 31st 2019 when I physically returned the keys to the apartment rental office and cleared the apartment as well as a printout of my payment history (tenant ledger) which shows I had overpaid by $90.00. I also have a copy of the lease which clearly does not state anywhere on it that they have this right to charge anyone an extra month’s rent In review of the apartment rental contact the closest that the apartment management obtains is on page 2, number 6 of the “Conditions for Vacating” area. It states and I quote: “If Lessee chooses to vacate the apartment at the termination of the lease, Lessee shall notify the Lessor in writing a minimum of 60 days prior to expiration date of said lease of Lessee’s “intent to vacate”. Failure of Lessee to give 60 days written notice of “intent to vacate” shall result in forfeiture of Lessee’s security deposit”."
"I would not recommend anyone moving into these apartments. This place is very dirty, glass and trash all over the property. Buildings are spray painted with gang signs. Lots of thefts and cars broken into. High drug use in the buildings. It's seems as though the manager really doesn't care how the facilitys look or care about anything really. If I could give zero stars I would. DO NOT LIVE HERE"
"This is a very rude place and they hung up on me when I was still asking questions. I have a friend in desperate need of a studio apartment asap in elkhart and I don't recommend anyone trying this place."
"Rent is cheap, but it is very outdated, does not support good internet and alot of thefts in storage units."
