"I now know why Bob disabled the review feature on his company's website, Great Lakes Re-Upholstery! He is a pathological liar and rarely - extremely rarely - ever keeps his word. On September 17, 2021 Bob agreed to do 6 dining room chairs, a sofa, and a bench. Bob agreed that he would have it all finished by November/December 2021. After numerous lies and broken promises we received the 6 chairs in January 2022. Bob's lies and broken promises continued about our sofa and bench. Every week he gave another story how the delay on the fabric wasn't his fault - "it might be next week, or it might be 8 weeks ". He didn't seem to understand that his "8 week" possible delivery date was an obvious lie after 10 weeks let alone 16 weeks! And he NEVER followed up with us when he said he would! We always had to follow up with him. There were at least 3 times when he told us it would be completed the next week! I called to start searching for another company to finish the sofa and bench. While talking to one of them they asked me where the sofa and bench were at? I told him it was with Bob/Great Lakes. There was silence and then he told me, "I'm sorry ." We gave Bob numerous times to prove himself and Bob failed on us every time. Finally on March 11, 2022 we asked for a refund, our sofa and bench, and our swatches to be returned ASAP. After a couple more weeks of excuses Bob finally dropped off our sofa, bench and the refund yesterday March 29, 2022. Keep in mind Bob started this September 17, 2021! And promised that it would all be completed by December! He's a pathological liar!!! He's also disorganized! During this 6 month fiasco he lost our swatches!!! Yesterday we met with our new upholsterer. Ten minutes into the meeting they checked on the fabric and unfortunately one of them has been discontinued. More importantly why didn't Bob/Great Lakes know this?!?! Because Bob/Great Lakes is not a reputable company that can be trusted to complete a job and honor their word. Please do yourself a favor and use ANY other upholstery company!"

"So...where to begin. Bob did great work for me on one chair. It took him a few months to get done but the work he did was amazing. Which led to me wanting him to do another chair of mine that was my grandfather's. The first chair took about 4 months to complete. I was good with that since there was so much detail that went into it. I had to call a few times to get updates on the progress but again, no big deal. Now that I have my 1st chair back, I can't wait to have my 2nd one done. Well, Bob has had this chair for one year and two months now. I call him almost every other week now to check on it. Most of the time, nobody evers answers the phone and I have NEVER had a call back to give me an update. When I do get thru to him, he has told me he will have it to me the next week. This has happen at least 10 times now where I have stayed home waiting for delivery and then, no call, no show. Last time I tried to get ahold of him Common I offered to come out and pick up the chair in completed. He told me that I could not come get it because he had snagged it. It is now been 4 weeks since he told me that it would have the chair back to me, of course one week later. Still nothing. I just want my furniture back. I would like my money back that I already put down on down payment on this chair and I just want this to be over.DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS IF YOU VALUE COURTESY, COMMUNICATION, CUSTOMER SERVICE! I don't know what to do to get my chair back."

"They just completed refinishing a 100 year old oak dining set that has been in the family and used daily. My grandfather purchased this in 1918. The set showed that wear and tear. The job was completed in about 4 weeks and although not perfect (but better than I could probably expect), they did a real nice job and I would use their service again."

"Great Lakes just completed redoing 6 chairs that were given to me and are no less than 50 years old. I needed the seat padding replaced on all 6 of the chairs. When I called Great Lakes they were very professional and came out to my house almost immediately to give me a quote. Because it was around Christmas he let me know that he could not get to the chairs until the New Year, which of course was fine with me. Bob then reached out to me, picked up the chairs and had them completed in less than a week and they are gorgeous. I plan on recommending Great Lakes to my entire network that needs reupholstery work!"
