"A truly transformative experience. I was able to get in touch with my deeper emotional self and release some major fear trauma. Psychodrama is an amazing form of psychotherapy, something you must experience to understand. I look forward to attending future intensives with Dr. Corby and Patrick Barone as they are incredible human beings emotionally, spiritually and professionally."
"I can't wait for the next workshop! As a therapist, I feel more confident to run psychodrama groups. As a man, I found the workshop to be a deeply moving and profoundly healing experience. Dr. Corby and Patrick have years of experience and training which they are able to translate into creating a safe, spontaneous healing space. I am truly grateful to have this experience!"
"When I first heard of psychodrama, my curiosity was sparked and I wondered what is psychodrama? In Michigan we are fortunate to have access to the Michigan Psychodrama Center that offers various workshops and training groups. Not knowing what to expect, I registered for a weekend workshop. Wow I was blown away! Psychodrama was much more than I ever expected. Psychodrama utilizes dramatic action and role play to examine a problem or issue raised by an individual. Through Psychodrama a person is enabled to work through issues past, future or present and is empowered to heal, grow, or change. After my first Psychodrama workshop I was captivated by the potential of Psychodrama beyond the personal level. I was also drawn to the benefits that Psychodrama could provide to a professional workplace environment. I have learned that Psychodrama can be utilized in everyday business situations such as conflict resolution, decision making, communications and endless other applications. More importantly, at the cornerstone of every great program are great leaders. The founders of the Michigan Psychodrama Center Dr. Elizabeth Corby and Patrick Barone are very talented and amazing leaders in the Psychodrama field. After attending several weekend workshops and a one-year Psychodrama training group led by Elizabeth and Patrick I was thrilled with the possibilities of Psychodrama. Both Elizabeth and Patrick are not only very skilled in their profession, but they are also very supportive and are an excellent resource of information for anyone interested in learning more about Psychodrama. I have witnessed the benefits of Psychodrama both on a personal level and in the workplace and highly recommend the Michigan Psychodrama Center to anyone interested in Psychodrama."
"I have had the good fortune to have known Dr. Elizabeth Corby for nearly nine years as a client and a participant in bi-monthly group psychodrama work. I have also attended numerous week-end psychodrama workshops, directed by Dr. Corby and the Michigan Psychodrama Center, that focused on psychodramatic bodywork, the sociometric cycle series, the courage to be vulnerable, the Hero’s journey and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in action. I plan to continue to participate in future workshops as they become available. While I have benefitted greatly from my one on one therapy with Dr. Corby, my intention here is to describe the powerful impact participation in psychodramas, guided by Dr. Corby, have had on my life. Psychodrama is an active and creative therapeutic approach that uses guided drama and role playing to work through problems or psychological difficulties. During each session, participants (protagonists) reenact specific scenes and experiences from their lives, guided by Dr. Corby. These scenes may include past situations, dreams and preparations for future events. In a group setting, other participants play the role of significant others or the audience, offering support and helping to bring to the surface underlying beliefs and issues. This approach helps people gain greater perspective on emotional concerns, conflicts, or other areas of difficulty in a safe, trusted environment. A session is typically executed in three phases: he warm-up phase, the actions phase, and the sharing phase and can last anywhere from a few minutes to almost two hours. Participation in psychodrama has improved my mental health exponentially. I have uncovered deep emotional wounds, brought them to light and have found peace. I have a great deal of trust in Dr. Corby and the process and feel safe in exploring difficult issues from both my past and present. It is amazing how much grief and sorrow can be stored in the body and the heart - even when you are absolutely convinced that a particular issue has been resolved. With Dr. Corby’s skillful guidance, I have, through the use of psychodrama, managed to find peace in many areas of my life – personal relationships, issues from the past and my relationship with myself. I would recommend psychodrama to anyone dealing with unresolved grief, anger, bitterness, trauma or regret. It is also useful as a tool to rehearse an upcoming event which may be causing you worry. Dr. Corby and the Michigan Psychodrama Center provide the skills necessary to guide one through the process that is psychodrama and help people gain greater perspective on emotional concerns, conflicts, or other areas of difficulty in a safe, trusted environment."
"Relief and rest through self reflection are just only a few of the benefits I have experienced after several psychodrama sessions. Through a well educated, devoted, and experienced staff I was placed in positions which helped me unblock past traumas and ill memories. From my personal experiences with counselors and comparing those times and hours with the psychodrama sessions I would have to make the simple assertion that my mental health was more at ease then after multiple counseling sessions. If you are considering psychodrama sessions I would point you in the direction of Michigan Psychodrama Center."
