"I booked a room for a couple nights while visiting the city. I was walking around in the main area and found a homeless man sleeping on the floor with a cigarette in his hand. This was well into the hotel after the outside doors were locked and you needed a card to enter the main part of the hotel so I told the front desk and assumed they did something about it. Then when I returned later in the night, there was another homeless man sleeping in the floor of the main entrance. He was sleeping in front of the key card scanner and I had to stretch over him since he wouldn't wake up to move so I could scan my card to get back in. I went to the prohibition bar and they told us we were able to order food from the steakhouse downstairs. When we ordered from our server, she told us she didn't think we were able after we said they told us that when we got there. We ordered steaks and a side which the steaks were good but they didn't bring us silverware and when we tried to flag the server down she kept telling us to hold on without seeing what we wanted. Eventually we were able to get silverware but they didn't provide us with knives to cut our steak and that took another five minutes. The server laughed at us when we asked if we got bread with our meal and said she would check but didn't return with an answer and said she would find out but never addressed it. The steak was very good but the macaroni and cheese was very bland and cold by the time we received silverware to eat it with. When I filled out my review, they sent an auto reply that said I would get a response in a few business days. It took them longer to respond than they were stated it would. The person who responded was decent, but offered a partial refund. She informed me I would receive the refund it in 7-10 business days. They also confirmed they would inform the restaurant so they could contact me. I continued to wait around and didn't receive a response so I called today and they corrected the error so I can receive payment because they forgot to file it."
"Room was cold and shower water never got warm. Ordered drinks to our room and the charges do not match the menu. Just seems to be struggling or in need of a revamp. Heard a gentleman kindly complaining about the same issues and the response from the person working the desk was that she’d never heard similar complaints before…. Well read these reviews, sure they have."
"My family stayed here for my brother's funeral. 7 rooms. The number of issues we all experienced is unbelievable. No water, then no hot water, black sediment in the water, changing rooms up to 4 times, tub water not working (had to bathe the toddlers in the sink), heat not working (it's January in Minneapolis), stains on the sofas and ottomans in the suites (no black light necessary), a particular person (I WISH I knew her name but we'll just call her bitter) delivering room service telling me I'm being charged extra because I didn't tip her when she came before (on top of the service fee AND 20% service charge). The hotel should be giving her and the kitchen staff that. Take it up with them. The minimal comps provided in no way compare to or make up for the distasterous experience we had. Then I get charged an in room smoking fee and no one even smokes. Mind you, bitter and maintenance were the only ones in my room and maintenance was appalled at our conditions in the rooms too. Never again. The only positive thing was 1 manager and 1 employee who were caring and compassionate considering we were there to bury my brother. As far as the lounges go, that prohibition lounge smells like it looks - like the furniture has been there since the prohibition era. The room set up in the suites make no sense. The bedroom has windows/ glass walls into the bathroom and living room so if you're sleeping and someone needs to turn on the light to use the bathroom, or in the living room, the bedroom is lit up too. Just never again. I'll be reaching out to the GM. I'm very well traveled all across the world. This was by far the worst experience ever. Take my advice and stay at Intercontinental. 100x better!"
"Stayed for one night for an event for the wife's company. Parking isn't the easiest experience, but prepaying ahead of time with room was definitely a great idea. Was a nice, clean, simple room. Honestly, the view makes up for any shortcomings, if any. Unfortunately, the observation deck was closed, caused by water damage that was being repaired. But overall was a great experience, staff was very nice and personable. Personally, I'd love to come back and stay again, maybe even a higher floor. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is cause nothing is ever that good haha."
"Great stay! Historic building that's been renovated into a swanky hotel. The lobby bar attracts a decent crowd on the weekends and Manny's, a top-tier steakhouse, is attached to the hotel and worth a visit if you fancy a classic steakhouse vibe."
