"This is what they did to my son who is special needs, nonverbal. This is after two weeks of not being able to see him. They didn't even have him checked by a doctor tried to hide it from me. I'll let you know who every one of them are."
"I've never been there, but my grandmother hung herself there back in 1991"
"I was there in the 1960s and 1970s. It could be brutal that's a fact. But if you learn how to play the game it actually wasn't that hard to endure. But I wouldn't recommend it for a vacation spot. They had to fight me too about taking Thorazine and Mellaril both. They gave me Compazine for a while to see what would happen. It was like being on LSD! I loved that! Of course that didn't last long... Yeah abuse was rampant. If one of the bulls didn't like you but he can make your life really rough. They lock you up in a seclusion room for days and days on it I did 18 days in one. There's a few that didn't like me and feelings mutual, tho they're dead by now, this is like 50 years ago. Yeah it was it was like that. There was two back when I was there on Third Floor of Receiving Hosp. They were both ward charges and they were equally hated by the kids cuz they were just downright mean!"
"My brother was beat to death here they want let me see his face but want allow him to use a phone he was put here for no reason he stated he is being mistreated and they are letting others please shut this place down fox 2 news have been contacted"
"In the late 1970's I was in Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital for 7 months. A male nurse violently physically abused me because once I wouldn't swallow Thorazine. He is retired now and no longer a threat to others so I will not name him. Over 3 decades have past and I still have the effects of PTSD (self-diagnosed) from my stay at KRPH. I am now a Certified Peer Support Specialist and it is my joy to help others affected by mental illness and its treatment. (I have recently (7/19) talked with the Director of KPH. I am very hopeful there has been/will be more positive change)."
