"Any amenities that UC writes UPA has are not true. Air conditioning is constantly broken and you do not have any control over temp in your rooms. There is no fitness center, no game rooms, no tv lounge areas either. Elevators break constantly and I cannot remember the last time we had all elevators running. It is nice having two bathrooms and two bedrooms, and the the kitchen and living room work just fine as well. The space is nice and I would still pick UPA over a traditional dorm, just prepare to be sweating every night in your sleep and to be prepared to take the stairs. Also, I lived in North so I had security, but the UPA South has no security and living there is a major safety risk and multiple people have been attacked simply trying to enter their place of residence, and there is nothing UC will do about it. We also do not have printers in our dorm so you have to walk to a location with a printer on campus to do any printing."
"According to my RA, UC bought out UPA, making any repairs/construction UC's responsibility. And there have been a lot of problems since moving in. First, the apartment was not cleaned before move-in. The bathroom was filthy and my roommate's mom had to bleach it. There was drywall along the walls in the living room. Second, the common area of my floor is unfinished, just concrete and couches pushed together near the corner of the room. There were construction workers (who sat on the couches playing with their phones) but I don't even see them anymore. Third, the down button to the elevator had been broken for almost 2 weeks until it got fixed. It has been a disappointing experience so far. And the perks of free coffee and free food are gone. The apartments will have free laundry for the rest of the year but will very likely be gone next school year. Edit: I'm out of UPA now, good luck to anyone still staying there."
"Great place to live. Location is practically on campus. Management and maintenance crew are super nice. Free laundry, free coffee, free food once a month! Only complaint is that the beds are hard and lumpy. Other than that UPA is amazing."
"Living in UPA has been great so far. I like the location on campus, and it doesn't feel any further away than the dorms are. The amenities are so nice, and the apartments are a good size. It's a good deal for the price I pay. I love doing my laundry for free, too."
"I love living in UPA! It's a really convenient location on campus. I also appreciate the free laundry, coffee, and occasional food provided. It's spacious enough and it's really nice that it comes fully furnished. My only complaint is that it is kind of annoying to have to swipe into the building, the room, and enter a code to get in, but I understand that safety is important. Overall, I would recommend living in UPA and am happy with my decision."
