"I'm very happy with Dr. Zahir. She has a great "bedside manner". She's very friendly, funny and makes me feel comfortable. I do not have children, so I just go for yearly exams and birth control."
"Dr. Zahir along with other doctors at this office wanted to induce my labor at 37 weeks because I had white coat hypertension. This occurred from previous worries they were instilling during my pregnancy. I moved from NC to Ohio midway through my pregnancy and my very first appointment the doctor told me based on my ultrasound taken in NC that my baby’s head is measuring larger than normal. No one ever discussed this with me at my former doctors office. Natural reaction for a first time mom is to worry. Once that was in the clear they told me I was measuring ahead with my stomach and their concern would be gestational diabetes, so again, I worried all the way up until the GD test cleared me from having gestational diabetes. Even though I told them several times my husband’s side of the family had average babies of 8-9 pounds and so this would make sense the baby seemed ahead. After the doctors office became a place I worried and got nervous the second I walked in—I had ONE reading of high blood pressure (140/90) and I could feel my nerves before they took the pressure. Even though I explained this to the doctor that i was nervous and feeling extremely anxious their immediate reaction was to order blood tests and treat me for gestational hypertension. All my bloodwork came back normal other than my protein in my urine was at .361–normal range is below .300. They then came to the immediate conclusion I had preeclampsia. Never mind the second blood test they did where the protein was below at .24, even blood pressure readings after we’re below 140/90 but still over 120/80 but this was heightened at this point because I was a mess from all the worry. All of my at home blood pressure monitoring was well below (average was roughly 115/73). So, when I said at the end I wasn’t willing to be induced at 37 weeks because they made me anxious at the doctors, the doctor was extremely rough giving me my cervix exam. I immediately knew something didn’t feel right. I called my family and told my husband that it hurt really bad and I felt her do something weird in there. I bled that evening, lost my mucus plug the next morning, and then my water broke. When I called the doctor they said “oh yeah, sometimes we can irritate the cervix which can induce labor”. So, long story short the doctor “showed me” and did what she could to have me deliver early since my husband and I said we wouldn’t schedule an induction at 37 weeks and wanted to see how the following week went and play it by ear. I would never go back to this office again, and just because we wanted to have a rational conversation and decision making process, the doctors apparently felt we were questioning their capabailities. Not that at all, just wanted to be educated and ensure we never jumped to conclusions because I felt I knew my body and that my pregnancy was going so well before they had me worried about everything under the sun. They truly ruined my experience over nothing. My blood pressure was completely fine during delivery, I had zero swelling, and my delivery went incredibly well even delivering naturally and ultimately being induced. Because of this doctor’s spiteful reaction we had our baby 3 days prior to “full term” and had to go through all of the motions of a premature baby. My husband and I cried when my water broke because we knew why it happened. You want everything so perfect for your baby and to have someone do something to cause your baby to come early was such an internal struggle for us. I felt completely violated. The doctor would have rather had it her way then allow us to deliver our baby at a healthy time. The whole thing is completely disheartening."
