"Doc Costa was my delivering OB/GYN at Soin, and had it not been her deciding on an early (2wk) delivery due to borderline preeclampsia I'm not sure what might have happened. Found out afterwards via bloodwork & placental testing that I definitely had preeclampsia. My bp numbers were reading high upper numbers with normal lower numbers for the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy, ntm the last couple of months my asthma reappeared - haven't suffered asthma since I was 7 years old! Met with all of the doctors on staff there, and while they are all great, Doc Costa and Doc Crawford are by far our favorites. Wonderful bedside demeanor, informative, knowledgeable, and took their time with me and all of my inane WebMd/Doc Google mini freakouts. Doc Costa & co were awesome during my birthing process - listened to our concerns and thoroughly explained what the next steps and expectations were. Also, they were all awesome at dealing with my ridiculous word vomit ramblings after my meds were introduced (and I wanted to do laughing gas... pffffft!) It was an amazing experience for my first child, and I only wish I could have 5 more so we would have our own 1st line hockey team for CBJ. Who knows... maybe we'll be back in a year or so for some MOAR!!! ;) "
"When i checked in for my appointment at 11:50 the receptionist told me it would be a hour and a half wait. I informed her that i was having my shift covered for the duration of my appointment, so i probably would not be able to wait the extra hour and a half. I proceeded to ask her when the next available appointment would be i could reschedule for. This is why i am writing the review. She told me to let her check, and over the course of the next 15mins standing at the window, she chats with her associates, goes page by page looking through a packet that a client who came in after me brought in the other window to her associate. She did not acknowledge my question one time, until the 15mins were up and finally said if you can not wait we will give you a call to reschedule. Being an hour and a half behind on appointments is disappointing but the service i recieved to "correct that" was even worse."
"One star, because zero is not an option. Dr. Clark delivered my daughter via csection in 2013. The reception staff was extremely unfriendly, appointment wait times were excessive: 45 minutes to over an hour. Both Dr. Crawford and Dr. Clark were uncaring toward birthing wishes. After an accident that triggered preterm labor and landed a night in the hospital around 26 weeks, neither doctor recognized me or knew why I was in for a follow up the next morning, after the on call doctor had consulted them less than 12 hours before. A diagnosis of preeclampsia came later, and I was forced to have a csection. No other options were presented. At my postnatal appointments, Dr. Clark stated if I were to become pregnant again, he would absolutely never allow a vaginal delivery (VBAC). I would not recommend this practice to anyone. Please call around and choose a better provider. Kettering Health Network should be ashamed to have these doctors affiliated with their network."
"NO stars! I only gave one because for the sake of giving a rating, you must choose one star. I had an appointment at 240 and called about 5 minutes prior to that to explain I was running late. After being placed on hold, I was informed anything 15 minutes or later would result in a reschedule. "Great." It was my first visit so I confirmed the address online which took me approximately 8 minutes away to the old Kemp location which has not been updated. Had it not been for that, I would've been on time. 5 minutes in the office and I already knew this would be a stupid experience to say the least. I got IN th office at 2:55 (EXACTLY 15 minutes late) to which the receptionist had her chair turned away and finally got to me at 2:56. She asked me to wait while she asked the doctor "if I could still be seen." To which I stood there another 5 minutes for her to come back and tell me "she is with somebody else, we must still ask." (I already knew all the time it took to flag down the doctor was already my answer.) They asked to reschedule and I told them it was my first and last visit. I should've known considering there are so many bad reviews, but this pretty much gives you the just of what you mean as a patient. I understand that it would be unrealistic to see EVERY patient who was late but I was late because your address has not been updated. If you want this to truly feel like EVERY other doctor visit where you are just another BODY passing through, not even a patient or a human being with error, then by all means.. Come on down!"
"I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who wants a doctor that cares enough to know their patient. You should definitely read this before making a decision. I was in the office one day with my wife for a 10 week appointment, and a customer was arguing with the receptionist, and then yelled "**** you!" and left. I thought, "Wow, that was rude, I wonder what her problem was?"... Well I think I might have an idea now. I am so insulted, and angry at these people I feel like saying the same thing. After seeing us for 3 visits, they informed us that our entire yearly insurance deductible of $2500 would be owed for the delivery... that’s fine…no issues there, but they said we had to have it in full by July. We weren't able to come up with it all by then, so My Wife asked if they could work with us in ANY WAY. The woman on the phone said they have to ask the doctors. A few days later we receive a call, and their answer was a flat NO "that is our Policy."... THEN the lady on the phone immediately started referring my wife to places in town that work with low income or welfare patients!!! How rude is that? Especially after they had already saw us for several appointments. Nothing against these wonderful places that help people out, but my wife and I make over $100,000/ year, and only needed a LITTLE help because we are double mortgaged, and just endured double electric bills for this harsh winter... AND they informed us pretty late in the process. My wife is the best medical bill payer I’ve ever known… every medical bill she has ever got has been paid with payments… last July we had a miscarriage.. NONE of it was covered by our insurance at the time, it totaled about $1300 and my wife has every dime of it paid off. Unfortunately, this office didn't care in the slightest to find out ANY thing about my wife or our situation, just a "that is our policy" refusal, and a pretentious, snobby referral. I'm actually glad this happened, because when someone is dealing with the precious life of my wife and baby, what do I want their MAIN concerns to be about? I'm not saying everyone at the office is a money-hungry jerk, but this was the doctors’ decision, and the incident clearly puts money above people….I'd just as soon not have someone with those values handling the most important things in the world to me in the delivery room. I started calling around and found another OBGYN, a very reputable one, here in Beavercreek, who immediately said they could work with us to some degree. Funny... they are part of the same "Kettering Health Network"... who Advanced said dictated their policy... but somehow, the new place took a little extra time to talk to us and was able to accept some money down and a monthly payment amount. Also, the new place was so much more personable, and took twice as much time with each visit to talk and get to know us."
