Lake Starcrest Village Apartments

"I moved in here about 3-1/2 months ago and figure it's time to share my experience. I have been very happy here, even though I had to downsize (retirement vs rent increases everywhere) and this was a relocation for me. The staff in the office are friendly and helpful, even with some of my rather stupid questions (who can't figure out how to open a window, right?). I've had similar experiences with the maintenance men who have been out. The washers & dryers are more expensive than in my old place in Miami, but also significantly larger, which means I can do my laundry in fewer loads, so that's a wash (no pun intended). Also, the facility I use is generally clean. I know some reviews complain about bugs, but I've only seen one in my apartment, and that was a one-off (thank you so much, Aldi's). I was quite worried about my animals (all seniors), two of whom had spent their entire lives in one one home, and the third who had been there most of his life. The cats, in particular--males, who get urinary blocks when stressed--I literally feared would not survive the experience, between the drive up from Miami to Clearwater, the mess of unpacking, the smaller space, etc. Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. We have a screened patio with an avocado tree and more right outside and they LOVE it (as do I; I tried to attach a pic, but lack the tech skills). My dog is so happy with her new territory that she walks further and longer than she ever did before, despite severe arthritis. Also, dog owners, there are stands everywhere with poop bags and a bin for once you fill them. The buildings are old, from the early '70's. Not everyone will like this, probably, but it has more character than brand-new and is to my taste. Also, everything I need on a regular basis--grocery store, drugstore, library, veterinarian, local eateries, etc. is very close. Finally, I have great neighbors, friendly and helpful to a newcomer to the area. I met an author in the laundry room, of all places! I selected & signed off on this place sight-unseen, all from Miami. I'll be honest. I originally chose it because I could afford it and the apartment was larger than others in the same financial ballpark. Now that I'm here, I'm delighted and hope to be here for years to come. P.S. I almost forgot! Impact resistant windows, including the slider. Those of you who live in hurricane country know what this means."

"BEDBUGS!! RUN!! There are multiple tenants here who have bedbugs, and they have had them for quiet awhile. Look at old reviews, the issue was going on at least 5 years ago and still unresolved. I stayed with a friend here who had an absolute NIGHTMARE infestation that he left untreated for MANY YEARS. I was living in my car at the time so I stayed here, it was SO bad I went back to sleeping in my car. Dealing with bedbugs has been one of the most devastating and traumatizing experiences of my life. Already lost my home and job and then had to lose majority of my belongings because of this. The office does not care to treat this problem either. Which is baffling to me because it puts nearby tenants at risk too. If that isn't enough to steer you off, the rest of this facility is disgusting too, the most dirty laundry facility I've ever seen. Very outdated too, everything is outdated. Said friend I know washes his clothes in there too, this is probably where plenty of bedbugs get transferred to others. Neighbors are rude and loud too, forget trying to work from home. There is always something ridiculous going on here. Not a safe area either I will say. I've had people trying to break into my car several times here. I literally chose homelessness over staying here."

"I've lived here for over 6 yrs. The office staff are awesome. Repair requests are done in a timely manner. I think everyone works well together to accommodate the tenants needs. I recommend Lk. Starcrest to everyone..."

"They told me that I still owed the money after the very end of my leasing contract. They were verbally told about 2 months ahead of time I was not going to renew and I would be moving out. 30 days before my Moving out date which would have been the date my contract expired they were given a written notice. They charged us for 2 additional months of rent plus took our security deposit of 300, and because we could not pay the 2 additional months of rent it has been put on my collections and it has been sitting there for 2 and a 1/2 years they have ruined rental my credibility, my well being and my likelihood this is wrong shout out to me at this is happened to anyone else. We never broke contract with these people we stayed for 2 years paid on time were good tenants and this is the treatment we got. All of this just because they got a 30 day written notice and not a 60 day writing notice, which I don't even think the 60 day notice existed at the time, And even if it did isn't the punishment enough that they keep my security card I mean come on I moved out on time and the place was left nice."
