"I went to view the apartment model and Mery was my agent. The apparent was very nice, clean and well maintained. Mery gave me an amazing service!!! I recommend her 100%, plus she speaks Spanish and helped with family members. Thank you again."
"I don’t live at Applewood apartments, but my Mother and father-in-does, they moved their after my husband passed away. I speak with my mother-in-law on the phone weekly and see her about every six months when I am able to get a ride up there. For the positive: The apartments are super cute and quant inside. There is a lot of tress and shade which is a plus in Florida. The apartments have a washer and dryer hook up with a really decent sized utility room. The living space of the apartments are decent The apartments are close to a lot of places Deland has to offer. A lot of parking for residents. One story buildings. The negative: When my mother-in-law and I speak I am informed almost every phone conversation that there are cockroaches and the pest control has to come out multiple times a month due to this issue, and it’s still not helping any due to infestation issues in other apartments as well. Unfortunately, from some comments it seems like this is a main problem with the complexes. Another issue is the walk ways and entrances to the apartments. The walkways are not only cracking and separating due to settling and tree roots, but they are also sloping down hill. I almost fell walking to my mother-in-laws apartment, and her sister and bother-in-law won’t visit because of this issue and almost falling as well. Then there are the HUGE steps to enter the apartment. There is one huge step up and then another to get into the apartment. On top of that there is a huge separation from the building itself and the step. On the inside of the apartment, there is a window unit (like hotels) with a hose that goes to the bedroom. The air conditioning runs constantly and the heat doesn’t work. Last winter she had to keep the heat on 68° and then have a floor heater. The electric bill of the occupants must be crazy. Unfortunately, for the price of these apartments, there are more negative views than positive (not only in my review). The apartments have great bones and potential, and are located in a great place. If the up keep on the apartments were done properly, they could be very decent. I am hoping these issues along with others will be fixed soon."
"The front office woman was really nice throughout the process of applying. My only complaint is that originally we were supposed to move into a unit with updated appliances on a certain date- but it wasn’t ready when the date came. So instead, they gave us a roach infested unit. Everywhere we’d look a new one would appear. We told management and all they could really say was that pest control would be coming but they didn’t. We ended up returning the keys that same day and getting our deposit back, and we even saw online that they immediately put the roach infested unit back up for rent that same day. Idk why a landlord would put a unit for rent that they know is infested with a nest of roaches…it’s not livable or sanitary. At least wait until it’s roach free…We’re still out $275 for an admin fee and application fee. I wouldn’t recommend looking here to rent."
"I moved here back in May of 2019. I've honestly not had any issues. Management is very responsive, my maintenance requests are completed in a timely fashion, and the rent itself is reasonable. If I had to recommend 2 changes: 1.) think about upgrading the interior a bit; I understand it was built some time ago, but even bringing in some new cabinets would make a world of difference. 2.) Change how the water/utility bill system works. It doesn't seem to be very reliable or predictable, and there are a lot of times where I feel I'm paying a lot more than the amount of water I'm actually using. Other than that, I have no complaints and would recommend Applewood to anyone looking for a decent place to live in South DeLand."
"The women in the office are great I lived here a year and if they had 3 bedrooms I would have resigned my lease they do all they can to help you. Maintenance people are quick and clean. This comment is about the ladies in the DeLand office from start to finish they were there. The only down fall is you are next to a water plant and it stinks but hey that's not their fault. Thanks again ladies."
