"Very nice state park with lots of walking, biking trails with access to beach and lots of amenities. That said it's the most expensive state park we've stayed in nationwide and we have full-timed RV'd for the last 8 years. Worth it though."
"I wish Texas had campgrounds this nice. We walked through while on the adjacent trail. Maybe I don't get out much, but this place looks upscale. The camping sites, actually everything, was well maintained. I was impressed how courteous and mindful everyone was--no blaring music or rowdiness. The tenting sites looked nice, secluded and well organized. And location seems excellent since you can walk the overpass to the beach. Yea, there may be wildlife, but doesn't bother me."
"One of the most amazing state parks we have ever stayed at! It's like a fancy RV resort, with all the outdoorsy opportunities of a state park (hiking, biking, swimming, birding, fishing, etc). The pool is gigantic and awesome, and the beach is immaculate. And if you ever find yourself bored with the park (unlikely) There are plenty of entertainment options in nearby Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. (See my review for Doc's Seafood Shack for info on some GREAT local seafood!)"
"Great clean and friendly campground. Lots of bike paths, 23 miles I think just in the state park. Many of the paths are on raised boardwalks. The over 400 sites are level and well spaced. The food and music at the woodside restaurant was wonderful."
"This is arguably one of the best campgrounds on the Gulf coast. It is situated right in between Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, so there are grocery stores, restaurants, and entertainment minutes away, but the campground is also secluded. There are miles of paved bike trails and bridges over the wetlands and woods. There are also bridges that give access to the beach without having to cross traffic. There are so many ways to explore and learn here, including their nature center with local wildlife. It is also worth noting that Gulf State Park is incredibly maintained. The bath houses are always fresh and spotless and the grounds are always well kept. As of January 2023, the end of the pier is still closed due to damage from a hurricane, however, the majority of it is safely open."
