"I have some issues to mention. 1) The stuffs should check the ID before letting the kids out with anyone. How do the stuff members can find out that whoever came to pick up the kids is allowed to pick up that kids! Whenever I went to pick up my son, I just put my phone number and put signature in the sign out sheet. And just tell them the kid's name. 2) Another issue is, is there a good phone number to contact the YMCA at Summit Blvd? Because Whenever I needed to contact to someone, I called, but no one answered. Then finally I used email to contact them, and it is time consuming. 3) This is the first time that my son is going to the day care. He is 4th grader. First few weeks he was really unhappy to go there. I was thinking because it's his first time to go day care may be that's why. But after few weeks we had a conversation, then he told me that some of the kids are very mean. At the gym some of the kids hit him with the ball purposely while playing basketball. Also hit him with hand on his head. I asked him that where is the YMCA stuff members? Isn't there supposed to be someone looking after the kids? He said, they don't care what the kids are doing. I told him he needs to speak out. He needs to let the stuff members know if any incidents happen. But also the stuff members supposed to look over the kids if anyone doing anything inappropriate."
"I had numerous people set high expectations for us regarding this summer camp program. We've just been continually let down. There's no communication at all to parents. You have to figure it all out on your own or continually ask for more information. Thankfully we had a friend who had already used their program and was familiar or we would have missed field trips. My child was significantly hurt twice. Once being hit in the face with a plastic bat and once again being hit in the head with a stick. Both caused significant marks. No one ever brought this up or wrote up an accident report. My son said his counselor would get frustrated when she would be called on her walkie talkie and would just ignore it and roll her eyes. Also, we were never once asked to provide ID to pick up our child. If someone has your phone number, they can have your kid, no questions asked. This place broke my heart with their lack of safety procedures and communication to families. We won't be returning."
"By far the worst establishment in Pensacola. Very poorly tan by a guy named David. I was just informed that my so. Is being kicked out for giving another kid a gift. That he bought with his own money. Not to mention my son is only 6yrs old has bad separation anxiety and does not make friends well. My wife and I thoroughly read the handbook and it talked about how they have counselors to work with special needs children like my son but that is a LIE no one up there councils or works with the children and if they do they do a very very poor job along with Mr. David. Thank for nothing and We'll be getting our money back !!!!! Do not recommend this place to anyone."
"Kids harassed my son inside the bathroom and for some reason were trying to look at his privates on several occasions and the staff did nothing when told. This is a big problem. Talk to your children when you pick them up, something isn't right here."
"This place was old and run down 20+ years ago when I was a kid. Now it's ten times worse. The pool is dirty. The gym is up a steep and worn out set of stairs and is so bad smelling it can be smelled before you even get to the stair well. The floor is uneven. The gym is cluttered and equipment is worn out and not kept clean. The daycare area isn't much better, last I checked. The staff seem to not even notice the problems. Find somewhere better for your needs."
