"Sophie was extremely knowledgeable and helpful showing us our apartment. She even helped us complete the application. She made our move to Dawsonville very enjoyable! She’s a great asset to Pointe Grand. Thank you Sophie."
"We really loved Morgan & Sofie, they were so helpful with everything move in related. The place is brand new and beautiful which has its plusses and minuses as we are so new we are not on all the maps! We are starting to attend functions at the clubhouse where it is nice to get to meet other residents. Overall a very nice place to live. The minuses include the amenities that are not completed yet, parking issues which will be organized soon we hope and we need to be able to have digital door cameras or at least peep holes put in please. We are lucky that we can have dogs of all sizes and breeds here at Pointe Grand as they are very pet friendly."
"I have been living at Pointe Grand for around two months and overall I love it here! The staff at pointe grand has been extremely helpful with any questions and assistance tenants may need. Although I haven’t attended any myself, it’s really awesome the community staff plans events for the residents to attend. I have only ran into one maintenance issue with hot water during my time here and it was resolved within two days of submitting my service request. Sophie, Renee, Wesley, and Morgan have all helped me with something at some point during my time here and all have been extremely kind and welcoming. I definitely plan on staying at pointe grand and would recommend it to anyone!"
"I'm going to be completely honest, and give as much detail as I can, including details on the additional fees charged to residents. First, the pros. Its a nice community, seems to be a welcoming space, and has some good amenities that most people will enjoy. As far as the unit goes, it is of average quality of those I've previously visited or lived in. The HVAC seems efficient, the water heater seems to be adequate. However, note that residents do not have access to their utility closet in their unit. Also, there are no screens on any windows. The rooms are fairly spacious and open, allowing for a vast range of furniture configurations. I will add that the appliances are just basic mid-to-low-range appliances that while functional, definitely feel cheaper and lower end for what they are. I will admit the large deep sink is really nice, and the garbage disposal is a nice tool in the kitchen as well. Now, on to the cons. The build quality of the buildings seems cheap and rushed. I have many, many little gaps/chips in the laminate flooring all throughout the unit, the blinds on the door are all chipped all the way down one side, and the door latches for rooms sometimes don't line up. My biggest complaint is the amount charged for Internet service. $115 a month locked at 150Mbps is absolutely uncalled for. I could go get T-Mobile Home Internet for 1/3 that cost and get much better speeds. For a place that advertises high speed internet, and while 150 is considered high speed, it is embarrassing to say the least. To further that, the ISP this community has arbitrarily decided to partner with is extremely hard to get hold of if anything goes wrong, and they are extremely unreliable for service. I went over 2.5 weeks without Internet (community prorated me thankfully) because this "ISP" couldn't communicate internally on getting my service fixed. Also note that if you need to host things at home and access them over the internet, you'll need to do it in such ways where it would be over a VPN tunnel as you can't make any changes in your router. Additionally, being forced to pay for trash service after I never received a trash can at move-in and after multiple attempts to get one later on is absolutely ridiculous. I generate less than 1 bag of trash per week, and it is unreasonable for me to pay $25 a month for some person to walk my single bag of trash 100 feet to the dumpster. On top of that, paying another $50 a month to "rent" the washer/dryer stackable in the unit under the guise of "if it breaks we will fix it" is ridiculous. Statistically, how often will that break? It is simply yet another add-on fee this place tacks on to get more money out of you. In the end, while your rent may be advertised at a nice low rate (sure to go up after the first lease term), note that there are a lot of additional fees and charges they add on to your bill. It is worth noting that water/sewer charges are applied based on estimated normal usage for an occupied unit. I personally pay between $20-$30 for each, so about $40-$60 a month (on top of rent/other fees) for water/sewer. Its not a bad cost, but since I am a sole occupant it feels a little high based on the amount of water I know I am using. Unless some big changes are made, I'll be looking to go live elsewhere once my lease is up because this place just gets too expensive. **EDITED TO ADD ADDITIONAL STATEMENTS** I will also add that there does seem to be an issue with residents not cleaning up after their pets. Just a few days ago, a few droppings of dog poop right next to the curb and tree at the bottom of the stairwell were finally gone after being there for almost 2 weeks. I am a little weary on the electronic locks and me not having a hard key to my own unit. This seems like a major safety issue, as well as yet another way for the complex to get more money from you as they will charge you a high price if you get locked out because your lock's batteries died. So be sure to stay on top of that. I personally don't use the pool or the gym, so I have no opinion there."
"My experience here has not been good so far. I moved here in May 2023. The $115 monthly Technology Fee is just for internet and that's a little pricey. I was told when I move in that I would get a Nest Thermostat installed ( since it is covered in the $115 fee ) but I still do not have it. I've asked many times and I am still waiting to have the Nest Thermostat installed. Some residents do not clean up after their pets and there is dog poop all over the property. I even called about dog poop & urine left in the breezeway of my building twice already. There are NO window screens on the windows NONE. When the weather gets cool we cannot open our windows. The porches are NOT screened in so we cannot open our porch doors either to get fresh air when the weather changes. We have to keep the AC going all the time. When you enter a maintenance service ticket it takes weeks to get resolved. My smoke alarm has been beeping since 8/25 and I am still waiting on maintenance to do something about it."
