"I just moved here to GA and made a video appt to establish Primary Care. I was on my video appt 15 minutes prior and waited a hour and 15 minutes for the doctor to connect. The doctor never connected with me. I called the help desk and informed them I was waiting. They didn't even know what was going on. Then a few hours later, I receive a vm from the clinic saying the doctor wasn't in the office and they forgot to cancel the video appt. Keep in mind I had this appt scheduled for 2 months in advance. So, I had the wait a long time just to see a Primary care because this VA clinic dont do walkins for establishing a primary care dr. Also, the clinic said they would reschedule my appt and I didn't have to do anything to reschedule, they would do it for me. Its been 3 weeks so far and they haven't rescheduled my video appt yet. Again, Im tired of the lack of empathy and compassion for us veterans throughout the va medical system. I really dont have a consistent good experience with them. Google requires me to give 1 star but I'll give 2 stars just cause when I had a mental concern, I was able to walk into the clinic but their not the best with quickly scheduling and being on time for appts to service veteran. "Very understanding staff. All the staff that I met were very helpful in understanding an informative of information for veterans"
"The personnel working in the Sleep Clinic are EXTREMELY slow. They have no sense of urgency. When you call the Sleep clinic,(Any of their extensions) no one will answer the phone. If you arrive to your appointment early, they will not see you sooner even if there aren’t any patients waiting. If you are able to get an outside sleep study, do so. I wish I had known this before now."
"This location needs a change in procedure for emergency room admissions. The next step would be to change and hire staff who are empathetic in their language and actions. My mom brought my poppie to the emergency room and faced a 12-hour wait. My father had edema and many other health complications but when he went to the back they did not allow my mom to go back with him. Second, he had dementia so he wasn't able to express everything going on. My mom said one woman in the waiting room stated, "Them not letting family members go back with the patients is foolish because sometimes they can't explain what is going on." Words of wisdom to the VA as a master's of social work student, "DO BETTER." My mom also stated one of the workers in the emergency room made a very sensitive comment. When we say to our veterans, "Thank you for your service," we need to mean it instead of saying it as a normalized cliche. I am very disappointed with the VA and this emergency room and its handling of our veterans. Our government, VA leadership, politicians, and everyone involved with the administration need to do better."
"I seem to have a good experience at the Atlanta VA Arcadia Clinic. My Primary Care Physician (PCP) is very kind and always keeps me abreast of my questions and concerns. She always responds to my messages on MyHealtheVet in a timely manner. The facility is always neat and clean."
