Reviews
"This a phenomenal platform to find black therapists that are very much needed in our community. I’m grateful that someone did not beg for a seat at the table but created a table for us by us metaphorically speaking. The majority of these negative reviews are misplaced and belong to business owners with poor customer service. This is a directory - you can’t be upset with the Yellow Pages (the phone book) just because the businesses you’ve contacted have poor customer service. I can agree that those businesses should do better, but this is simply a paid directory (like all the other therapy directories), and no one’s business is “endorsed” by Therapy for Black Girls just because they are listed on the directory. Therefore TFBG isn’t responsible for their service. They are not responsible for other businesses' actions or lack thereof. However, I wish there was some type of way that potential clients could report a business/therapist who did not respond in a timely manner thus negatively impacting that therapist’s ability to show up on the first page of the results or some other sanctions. Or list therapists who have recently updated their profiles first on the search results which usually implies those therapists are actively looking for new clients. There are no more subpar therapists on this directory than there are in any other directory. The ability to find a quality therapist lies on folks’ ability to research and compare the credentials/training of therapists. Regardless if you find a couple of therapists with solid credentials and trainings, finding the right therapist is a lot like dating. It is unfair to leave a negative review for TFBG when it actually wasn’t them that failed to provide the service."
"The customer service is severely lacking. No return calls, emails or VMs after several attempts. What's the point of this site for us if there is no follow-through or guarantee to even get anyone on the phone?!"
"Sadly the care from most of these providers listed on the site is really sub-par. The only difference is that they “can” relate more than a white male provider…. I think using this site has slowed the process of me actually getting help."
"I've contacted every single therapist within my area and never hear back from anyone. I've been able to contact 2 and even after having an entire conversation on the phone with both of them I was never contacted again."
"This website is the one right here! I am really happy I found this site as it has matched me with with a great therapist and I was able to see that there ARE BIPOC therapist out there available and ready to provide support to tackle the microaggressions and so forth that we, in the BIPOC realm deal with on a daily. Hoping they continue to make improvements to their sites though, such as making sure therapist who are NOT taking new patients update their status and remove their profiles accordingly so patients in need can lessen the disappointment felt when reaching out."
