"I have been staying at an Extended Stay Hotel in Columbus Ga for the past 9 weeks or more. The staff there were professional, articulate, and very pleasant, the rooms were clean and with the exception of the bad cable package and the many annoying and upsetting disturbances by large and aggressive dogs who unbelievably are locked in rooms all day barking and wimpering, I had no other issues there. My new job is now taking me to Atlanta GAunfortunately, I say unfortunately because I had my first encounter, via phone with the Extended Stay America location where I had just booked a week long stay at 3967 Peachtree Road, Atlanta GA, 30319, and it was not good at all. I called with a question and the phone was answered by a gentleman who did not identify himself, so I don't know his name, but he had an accent, he immediately asked me to hold, I was left on hold for a really long time, he eventually came back, picked up the phone, then hung it up immediately without saying a word. I waited a few minutes then called back, this time he did not answer the phone with even a greeting, I told him I had just called and was asked to hold, then I asked him why he had hung up on me, he ignored my question and said what can I help you with in an abrupt manner, I asked him why he was being so unpleasant since he had hung up on me, he then hung up on me again. I called the reservations extension and asked where I could file a complaint, the gentleman who I spoke with was pleasant professional, apologised for me having had a bad experience and asked if he could transfer me to Guest Relations, which he did, the woman who answered was almost as unpleasant as the front desk agent, the sad thing is that she did not surprise me at all, what was clear to me was that these are most likely franchises who are not Customer Service Oriented, and do not care about further tarnishing this brand, which also does not surprise me. I have been traveling for work for almost 15 years and Extended Stay was always my go-to hotel. Unfortunately Extended Stay America has sunken to the bottom of the barrel in the last 10 years. You can now expect to have loud guests all around you, always, and large dogs that are shut in all day, alone and they will bark and wimper until they can no longer bark. ESA apparently allows large and aggressive dogs, so your safety is not a concern and locations like this one obviously, do not care about being Customer friendly, given the personalities of some of staff they hire, but they are definitely Pet friendly! I have never seen one of the dogs at the front desk paying, but they have more consideration given to them then to people paying $500 plus per week, also the pet fees that the owners pay should not make them exempt from having some consideration for the other guests staying in the hotel. Thankfully I am almost done with traveling for work and I'm so relieved because the Extended Stay America Experience leaves too much to be desired!"
"The receptionist gave us an absolutely horrific time when checking in. Not only was she rude and uncooperative, she was antagonizing by purposely taking her time getting us our room key. I will never give money to this hotel again until they hire better staff. Got help that women. Her alone ruined me and my families experience."
"My experience at the Extended Stay America – Atlanta (Buckhead location) could hardly have been worse. We were overcharged, which seems (according to staff) to be a recurring problem. The front desk couldn't resolve this. We're still working on it. We were staying a week, and there was a brochure on the kitchen counter, “Customize Your Kitchen.” We had brought food in an effort to economize, so I requested dishes, cooking supplies, a toaster and a coffee maker. The front desk person told me that they didn't have any of that. That it all gets stolen and the hotel never bothers to replace it. Given that this answer seemed somewhat unlikely and I really didn't want to buy a bunch of stuff that I already own, I decided to get a second opinion (next shift) which yielded a coffee maker (covered with a thick layer of dust but worked fine) and a toaster (appeared new). She also said that she would put aside some dishes for me to pick up later. When I went down to get the dishes none had been put aside, but the front desk clerk (different one) told me she would put some aside for me – that they needed to be washed. When I went back down they weren't there. The front desk clerk made the same offer, but rather than be a prisoner of hope I just said, “never mind.” We bought a few things at Wal-Mart which is about 3 miles away. There was a homeless guy (seemed nice enough) living in the stairwell. My toilet got stopped up, and I basically had to stage a sit-in at the front desk to get them to supply a plunger (which I used successfully). They didn't seem to think they had one. Cleanliness was not great but maybe not as horrible as noted by other reviewers. I did kill a roach, but it was the only one I saw. The laundry area/exercise room featured 100% humidity with a sheen of water on every surface. The "Free breakfast" noted under "Amenities" was coffee with a wicker basket of granola bars. The staff were mostly nice. They were generally willing to interrupt their private phone conversations (in the back office) if they noticed you on the video monitor. As noted above, they aren't particularly helpful and will happily push any issues off to the next person's shift. They uniformly had an extremely low opinion of the management, and this opinion seemed to be well-earned. I rated the location as 3 out of 5. Its fine. It's a short walk to MARTA. As for everything else related to this hotel, one star is a bit too high. You may wonder why we stayed for the full stay and didn't switch hotels. I suppose that I wonder that, too, but switching is a pain and I really wanted to save money by using the kitchen. Of course the extra cost of the room and buying some kitchenware obliterated most of that savings, We'll see if we're able to get any satisfaction on the room pricing. I'm not particularly hopeful."
"Do not stay here! I had to stay here for a few days and it was very traumatic. They leave the doors unlocked at night and someone got inside and pulled down his pants and did something really disgusting while watching me! Police were called but the manager did absolutely nothing to help me with my concerns. I would not recommend staying here if you have children. The streets are better than staying here. Spend an extra $20 bucks and go somewhere nice. Also the rooms have mold and I was sick my entire stay. Absolutely disgusting! The team has no professionalism at all."
"Infested with roaches!!! This place needs to be shutdown and exterminated asap!! There were roaches crawling out of the drain in my tub. There’s a certain smell that lingers in the air as well that doesn’t not smell good. Customer service was mid. I waited at the help desk for 30 minutes to get new sheets and nobody arrived. I ended up having to sleep in my hoodie and sweatpants. DO NOT STAY HERE! YOU WILL REGRET IT!"
