"I’m unsure if it is just me, but the Hilton brand is not currently living up to its reputation. While I travel quite often, this was indeed a terrible stay. The young lady who checked me in was by far one of the most friendly hotel staff I have ever encountered. When I arrived, I was exhausted; at that point, I had traveled to five countries and seven states in the last ten days; when I walked in, she greeted me, had small talk, complimented me, and made me feel appreciated for choosing the Hampton Inn. At this point, I noticed the construction was happening. I got to my room, which smelled not fresh and smelt like a cigarette pub. I was told my room was fully renovated; well, I don’t think the construction crew had enough time as wood was visible throughout the room, the closet space was not completed, there was exposed wood around the frame, the bathroom had loose tiles, the tub was not clean. I did like receiving a text asking how my stay was, but unfortunately, when I responded with my concerns, they were never addressed. I tried taking a nap, but with active construction going on, it was nearly impossible. There were chemical/ paint smells throughout the floor and banging/ hammering from construction. Since construction was ongoing, rooms, breakfast area & elevators needed to be cleaned. The tiles in the bathroom were not correctly on the floor; when you stepped on them, they would move. I had to keep my slides on all the time in the room. The dust bothered me really bad and triggered my allergies to the point I spoke to someone at the front desk. They said other rooms were the same, but they would have the manager contact me in the morning, which has yet to happen. It got so bad that I could not stop coughing and eventually went to stay with my best friend at the JW Marriott; I was forced to pay for another room while I already had a room, which was ridiculous to me. I think it is pretty inconsiderate not to inform guests before their arrival there is construction taking place, and not to mention the cost should reflect that as there are plenty of options in Atlanta to stay, I would have chosen a different location if I had known there was construction because of my asthma and allergies not to mention the fitness room was out of order. I called the day I reserved the room to ensure there was a fitness room and was told this location has a pool and fitness room. As a frequent traveler, It is beyond me that I would have to pay so much money when my stay was a complete mess, not to mention I ended up having to get a hotel room somewhere else because of the conditions. "Hotel is undergoing some renovations and rightly so. Its quite dated and needs it. Staff are friendly and genuinely ask how they can help. As a HH Diamond level member I was not recognised or "welcomed" on check-in despite booking 2 rooms. No upgrades on this trip either. Hotel does have few dedicated parking spaces for Diamond members which is quite handy. 3-stars this trip and perhaps in future when renovations are completed we will see if worth more."
"The stay itself was okay. The location is not great unless you like being right in the middle of everything. My only real complaint is that housekeeping practically rushed us out. They came to the room three separate times between 9 and 11, even though we were told checkout was at noon. When we left (before noon by the way) the housekeeper was literally standing outside of our door with an obvious attitude. Very rude"
"Decent rooms, good breakfast options. Nice hospitality. I did not face any issues during stay. There was some construction in the building but the lobby, escalators and hall ways were clean. No noise in evenings, nights or mornings. No smells. It was well maintained. I wish that the bed was more firm. (But I generally use a more firm bed than others in my family so it could be just me)."
"It is very hard to come and give a business a score of 1. We have stayed in many different hotels both in the US and international. This is the first time we rate a location with a 1. We arrived Friday Nov. 17 and after a very long drive to Atlanta we were looking forward to a restful night. Check in went smoothly. We opened the door to our hotel room (Rm. 525) and the first thing we noticed was the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke (the hallway had fresher air). I was the only adult staying with my kids and like I said it was late and we were all so tired so we just stayed and tried to get some sleep. We wake up Saturday morning to the news that 4 cars in the hotels parking lot had been broken into. Windows smashed, things stollen. We saw police in the hotel lobby and come to find out they were there not because of the window smashing incident but they where there because someone from the street walked into the lobby during breakfast and started harassing hotel guests. I wish that was the end of it but since we were staying for a soccer tournament we had friends staying in other rooms and had different account of the state of the other guest rooms. One guest found an open vodka bottle in the room. Another guest checked into room 526 Saturday evening and as soon as they opened the door to that room they realized it was already occupied (beds unmade, suitcases, etc.) I cannot believe all of this happened in a span of 48 hours. As soon as we got home I had to wash everything that we took into our hotel room. Our travel blankets smelled of cigarettes smoke, our unused clothes that remained in our luggage smelled of cigarette smoke. I even had to leave our suitcases out in the sun to get some fresh air to get the smell out. I will be sending the manager this email and Hilton. The hotel was not safe for anyone - especially for those of us moms who traveled alone with our kids. The hotel was filthy and I am very sad to see the standard of Hilton has hit such a low point."
