"January 21, 2024, a little after 1030AM, my family and I were heading to church, and we realized that we had left diapers for our youngest at home. My husband pulls up to Dollar General, walks into the store, and immediately walks out because he was told he can't carry his over-the-shoulder bag. Although this "rule" isn't posted anywhere within the establishment, he returns to the truck, leaving his bag and only taking in his wallet. My husband proceeds to use self-checkout, purchasing only the diapers, uses his Visa card, and is immediately accosted by the older caucasian employee with glasses. He walks out, and I see her following closely behind him, mouthing something with the homeless friend she was chatting with, following closely behind as if he's some type of backup. Of course, I intervene because I refuse to allow my husband to be confronted by a woman if I am around; we have all seen the types that scream, "he hit me," or "I am calling the cops." I step in between them and ask what she needs, and when she asks for his receipt, I know what type of person I am dealing with. She attempts to snatch the receipt out of my hand, and I move it away and hold it up, showing that the receipts reflect the only thing we stopped at the store to buy. Being racially profiled has to be one of the most disgusting experiences I have ever been witness to. My husband and I are both disabled Vets and have no reason to steal. We work because we WANT to work, not because we have to. I thank God for the employee who had an encounter with my family yesterday instead of running into someone who did not care or had nothing to lose. If the rule is no bags, put up a sign. If you're afraid people will steal, then it would be wise to pay attention instead of chatting to your friend while on the clock."
"Absolutely awful customer service the 3 obnoxious ladies standing around doing Absolutely nothing told me I had to leave my purse at the front counter I told them I wasn't leaving my purse & they all 3 starting yelling at me so I yelled back, it's not a bag it's a purse ^ again they all 3 starting yelling & one one them starting jumping around like a child lol smh unprofessional"
"Love the place, only knock is that the price is much higher than use to be and I'm taking into account even with our bad economy. Otherwise all else is good including staff. I still go there but their prices can be beat in most "dollar" type of stores."
"Hey y'all need to tell people don't stand close to people when people using their debit cards, what happened to 6 foot distancing, no one seems to 6 foot distance when I'm using my debit card the same rule should still apply not in this store but every store."
"Was very pleased with my visit even though they were out of what I needed. Store attendent was a very nice attractive black man who's name I wish I had gotten. He let me use the restroom even though I had to go between carts of stock. Hope he sees this and looks me up... I was wearing a pink shirt trimmed in gray. This was at the Rossville Blvd store"
