Spanky's Chicken & Seafood Lounge

"Had to check out Spankys after hearing all the hype about the fried turkey ribs. So I got the fried turkey rib plate, and hubby got the smoked turkey leg. The batter on the ribs was good, but the meat was too dry, I couldn't eat most of it. The smoked turkey seemed overcooked and really didn't taste smoked at all, and it also went to waste. Sides were terrible, we didn't eat them. Too much parsley was spread over all the dishes. The lemonade was good. We got a shrimp poboy to-go, and I must admit that it was the best thing we ordered. Even though they put it on a hamburger bun because they were out of poboy buns, and this was early in the day. Prices were reasonable. The music was a little loud for my taste, I practically had to yell at my husband, who was sitting right beside me. The place is kinda on the small side but has a good vibe. The service was spectacular. Kiya was our server, and she was the sweetest, most attentive server we've had in a while. In fact, all the ladies there were pretty nice. Overall, I won't go out of my way, but if I was hungry and in the area, I'd get another poboy. So if you decide to go, I recommend trying something fried."

"This year, I decided I will only eat out once a week and only dine with small businesses/restaurants. I was thoroughly disappointed with this week’s choice. Good: The bartenders/order takers were nice. The music was loud but a nice touch. Lemonade was good. Wait time was good. The food prices were average. Bad: There is a horrible smell in the building that left me nauseous. It was said to be something dealing with the gas. Parsley was all over everything. Cornbread came on a tray in a paper bag. Macaroni tasted like it was boiled in chicken broth. Ribs fall off the bone but the flavor was not it. Cornbread had flavor but was chewy as if it was missing ingredients or had not been baked thoroughly. The cake was inedible. The flavor was off and it was both dry and gummy at the same time. I will give it another try in a few weeks and update my review if needed."

"We were so excited about visiting Spanky's,needless to say our experience was as follows: Parking lot extremely dark, so my girlfriend and I decided let's place a to go order over the phone. We were told they don't take over the phone to go orders. We decided to go in since we saw others going in. We told the staff we would dine in. The server was very unprofessional, telling us and the table behind us that she will talk about the menu to both tables at the same time. My girlfriend had to go to the restroom so I asked the server,and she said it was located outside,but it was in the building. My girlfriend proceeded to go to the restroom and the 2nd exit door wouldn't open. The bartender asked a gentleman that work there to open the door,he had difficulty getting the door open. Once he did get it open my girlfriend proceeded to go to the unsafe location and immediately turned around because some men were hanging around outside. The employee who opened the door said don't worry they work here. We waited about 30 minutes for our food, and once we got it,the food was packed up for us to take even though we said dine in. We got our bill,and 59.00 dollars worth of food and drinks 8.85 for gratuity 2.35 assessment fee,and 11.24 tip ended being 86.16 dollars. We asked the server about it and she said there is a mandatory 15 percent gratuity for the kitchen, and a fee for using a card. As we examined the bill further,we see the server added an unauthorized 11.24 tip. We spoke with another employee who,got the manager who broked it down to us,but was unable to justify the extra tip,so she refunded that portion back. Once we got home the food was tasty,but please pay attention to your bill at this place. It's ashame they actually have good food. We had the Cajun salmon,and the Cajun chicken,along with the wings and fries. We also ordered the frozen lemonade that really wasn't frozen a gentleman was sitting at the bar with a pint of liquor, and giving shots to our waiteress. The unsafe parking lot with very little lights, terrible potholes, bathroom located outside, employees hanging outside and, sneaky waitress adding an unauthorized tip when gratuity is already there.Makes you not want to come here. Not to mention this is a fire hazard, Please beware!!!!"

"Update: November 28th the service was still on point. The staff at the front are polite and patient while you figure out what you want to order. The whole wings were perfectly seasoned and the fries were crispy. Turkey ribs were good but the chicken sandwich was amazing! Collard greens and macaroni & cheese were lacking. Visited the restaurant on Sunday September 17th around 4pm. We were greeted immediately and given time to look over the menu with a few recommendations. Ordered Cajun salmon pasta, Cajun chicken pasta, turkey leg, collard greens, mac & cheese and sweet potatoes to-go. The food took about 20 minutes to come out after the order was placed. The turkey leg and mac were just OK. Cajun pastas were my favorite! Both were well seasoned but not salty with the right amount of sauce and the salmon was perfect. I don’t think I’d sit and eat here as I was not impressed by the ambiance but I’d definitely patronize them again."

"Service: First time visiting (9/9/23) and was greeted with superb customer service - the Owner being a perfect gentleman and the young lady at the counter!! Ambiance: Although there's no restrooms available nor air conditioning (fans only), the establishment carried a clean environment, clean counters, clean tables and booths, clean menus, and organized areas/stations. So, because of the warmth of the lounge/restaurant, come with the mindset that you're going to a family picnic or reunion with a huge overhead enclosure at the local park with GREAT food! Food: Speaking of food...THESE PICTURES ARE A TEASE but The FOOD IS AWESOME! The food was fresh and hot! The portions are enough to feed two people, unless you're extremely hungry - you'll definitely be full. The taste of the food reminded me of that old school soul food that your grandparents cooked for two days. I have NO complaints and will DEFINITELY return!!!"
