"Extremely unprofessional, very poor communication skills, and disconnected from property owners. Do not apply to any of the properties they manage as you will waste money and time. After taking your money they will tell you the property is yours! Then within 24 hours they will decline your application for what they told you was no problem in the beginning. The bar is low for property management groups in the Charleston area, and businesses like this one drive it lower. Edit: looks like you have to leave a review to get a response."
"I lived in a rental unit ran by Sandlapper for three years and had an overwhelmingly negative experience with the staff and company. Ashley (the owner and who we dealt with most often) initially seemed pleasant but our issues with her and sandlapper began very early on into them taking over our rental property (they sent us eviction warnings and a notice during the first month that they took over our lease, claiming we hadn’t paid rent- which we had, and on time… we were confused/horrified and had a very difficult time getting in touch with them before they responded and essentially told us ‘whoops, our bad!’). They’re extremely poor communicators and regularly ignored inquiries made (via phone, text, email, etc). This was the case even when bringing serious health concerns regarding the extensive presence of mold and other issues as the result of multiple instances of water damage in our living space to their attention. Another example of their communication problems is how difficult it was to get them to return our security deposit. It took them nearly a month to do so, despite promises that it’d be done sooner (did the same with our upstairs neighbors and other tenants that we personally know who lived in rentals managed by them on our street and around the block. Some didn’t get theirs until AFTER the 30 day period legally required by law). They stopped responding to my request to return the security deposit altogether until I threatened legal action. Sandlapper was also sneaky and withheld information regarding the owner of the building’s plans to sell our property so we never felt like we could trust the staff despite them being generally pleasant during our limited in person interactions. However, I was met with apathy and condescending tones on numerous occasions, particularly after we notified them that we would not be renewing our lease after a very substantial rent increase. It’s evident that Ashley and her staff cared about money and were not in the business of making things right and taking care of serious issues that tenants were subjected to. This is the only rental company we’ve ever had any sort of an issue with, I would recommend steering clear of Sandlapper and doing your due diligence before signing a lease with another company! I would like to note that we occasionally had pleasant interactions with someone named Amy at sandlapper, although we hadn’t spoken to her in recently so not sure if she’s still there. They also used a handyman named Javier who was nothing but honest and kind. Those two people represented the extent of the positive experiences we had with sandlapper over the course of three years."
"Terrible Property Management Co. I would get ignored for days, after I could see the agent had read my messages. She then told me I had the property I applied for. Days later giving me the run around about so many issues, she said I in fact did not have it and I would get a refund for my application. I never received the refund and never heard from her again. If you are looking for a rental dodge this company!"
"I loved being a tenant under Sandlapper Management. They actually care! I was a waitress and single mother and struggled and they trusted and worked with me in my worst times. I attempted to stay with them for another year however the property went under new management and these “Creekbend Management” people were so unprofessional they forced me to plan my next move shortly after Sandlapper left! Ashley at Sandlapper Management is the bomb and Debbie also. You ladies will always have a bright future because you have such a loving and caring heart, and you’re punctual and professional! Thank you for looking after me and my family! God bless you all forever!"
"It would be great if they actually got back to you, and kept communication flowing. What is it about realtors in SC? They are the most unprofessional realtors in any state I have ever lived in. This place is no different. You contact them, they take days to contact you. They don’t return calls. They leave you hanging until the last minute, and then don’t bother contacting you at all. Just bad business all around."
