Canterbury House East

Canterbury House East is a non-profit, independent living, age-in-place senior community located at 165 Market Street in Charleston, South Carolina. With oversight by a Board of Directors, Canterbury House offers safe, comfortable, and affordable housing for residents aged 62 and older who meet annual income guidelines. The campus consists of two buildings: Canterbury West, a thirteen-story high-rise with 204 apartments, and Canterbury East, a four-story building with 46 apartments (including units designed for the physically disabled). Residents have access to a range of amenities within walking distance, including houses of worship, shopping, restaurants, and medical facilities. Sponsored by the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina, Canterbury House is dedicated to promoting the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of its residents while enabling them to live independently with additional supportive services. The institution is committed to a program of stewardship that respects each individual's rights, dignity, and independence.
