"Moved here about 6 months ago. Everything has been great the maintenance man is wonderful and gets my issues solved quickly. I do wish this complex offered trash service the dumpster is far from my apartment and lugging it downstairs when i have some health issues it can be rough."

"Update: It’s been 2 months since this review and they never contacted me. Their response was crafted for appearances. Now I have to navigate whether I spend the time to take them to small claims court or just pay the collections balance. Rent is cheap but it is not worth the headaches. Management is a rotating door of people who make promises and don’t keep them, they play the blame game on the former management team and never take accountability. I went without a washer for 8 months and then when one was installed it was not installed properly and flooded the downstairs neighbor’s apartment. Rachel was the manager during my move out process and apologized profusely for the flooding emergency at 2 AM caused by the technicians they hired. She assured me on March 30 she would write off the half’s month rent for the last month of my lease as compensation for all the inconvenience of no washing machine for such an extended amount of time and a flood. She again reiterated this during my move out walkthrough two weeks later. Of course I didn’t get this in writing and instead of notifying me I was responsible for this portion of the rent she sent me to collections. I did not realize it until months later when I looked at my credit report. No phone call and no email from a member of management, just sent straight to collections. For someone who paid rent diligently for 3 years I am absolutely disgusted by their practices. Pay a little more to not have to deal with the incompetence."

"I am now being told by “The Lily”, which is where I lived, that I have been getting the run around for money that is OWED TO ME from the 1800 Ashley West community? Do NOT rent from any of these companies. I haven’t lived at “The Lily” in 4 months. I have sent multiple emails, left voice mails, left physical messages with the office. I’ve received emails from the office the check was mailed 2 months ago and now I’m being told that I OWE MONEY?¿ This is ridiculous!"

"Absolutely terrible! Do not use this complex!! There are other options. They require you to give a “notice” upon moving out that is 60 DAYS LONG! I signed a lease with a move out date, don’t be ridiculous. The pool gets closed and opened continuously within 3 days. The amount of problems I have had with the unit and the lack of knowledge the maintenance team knows. The price does not match the service and amenities. Don’t let the pictures and leasing agents fool you. I would advise to use apartments elsewhere."

"I am a current tenant at 1800 Ashley West and I’ve been living here for 2 years. While my first year was quite uneventful leading me to, now regretfully, renew my contract here, it was a few weeks into my second year that I really understood why 1800 Ashley West is so poorly rated. In my long-experience of renting, 1800 Ashley West has by far THE most incompetent and unprofessional management I’ve had to deal with. My apartment flooded 3 weeks ago for reasons that I still have not received any information on from the management. My home was left to flood from Sunday afternoon until Monday morning because the Maintenance Emergency service was out of service since the management had “temporarily” suspended it. The property manager blatantly denied this and it took several videos and screenshots of my call log to finally convince them to restore the service so other tenants would not be affected. In the 3 weeks that my apartment has been affected and needing repair, there has been NO communication and I have received ZERO updates from the management despite my many e-mails and phone-calls. All the effort on my end to get in touch to have my home repaired was simply overlooked and ignored. I have been required to make a presence in the office every day for the past 3 weeks to request for updates and for the maintenance technician to come back and finish partially completed jobs in the house. Today, I’m headed into week 4 since the incident and still sitting in an apartment with barely finished paint-jobs and broken fixtures. Even though the flooding incident and the damages were contributory to the building’s poor maintenance and lack of the Maintenance Emergency service when needed, the management appears to have simply washed their hands off of taking responsibility and repairing the damages in a timely manner. I would, therefore, strongly recommend against choosing 1800 Ashley West to live in. Not only are the apartments overpriced for their size and amenities, the new management is extremely incompetent and unprofessional. For those coming from out-of-state (like myself), I have learnt that the rent for most apartment complexes in Charleston are pretty much within a comparable range and equally accessible to most locations/highways. I would, therefore, encourage you to keep an open mind and shop around and not rush into choosing 1800 Ashley West to live in."
